Pressure Point GB-25. How to use the Rabbit Punch?

Pressure Point GB-25

As I continue with the series on important pressure points for self defense I am going to look at Pressure Point GB-25 [Gall Bladder Meridian]. Aside from being an excellent pressure point to end an attack GB-25 is also an Alarm Point. More on this below.

Pressure Point GB-25 - Location & Effect

Below is a partial excerpt from my eBook Kyusho Pressure Point Anatomy

Pressure Point GB-25 is located on the lateral sides of the abdomen, on the lower border of the free end of the twelfth rib.

This is another very dangerous pressure point due to its proximity to the Kidneys.  Striking this pressure point can have an even more profound effect on the Kidney's than actually striking the Kidney's themselves.

A medium strike can cause a knockout, and a more sever strike can cause Kidney failure. With a sever strike death can result due to Kidney failure. Pressure Point GB-25 will not produce an electrically shock response like some pressure points will.

The result is crippling pain and the inability to overcome the pain in a short time.

Pressure Point GB-25 is an Alarm Point

Alarm Points are one of the most important understanding in all of the science of pressure point self defense we call Kyusho Jitsu.

Now, Alarm Points of which there are 12 on the body relate directly to the organ they represent themselves.

So in other words a strike to pressure point GB-25 has a direct and negative affect on the functioning of the Kidneys themselves.

Pressure Point GB-25

Striking an Alarm Point will also active the meridian they represent bilaterally at a high level.

So in this case the Kidney Meridian is activated bilaterally, as well as Triple warmer bilaterally. Plus Gall Bladder on the side of the strike.

Therefore in this case you would have both Water, Fire  and Wood elements in the Cycle of Destruction, which then striking a metal meridian pressure point would yield a very strong result.

This is assuming the attacker was not render unable to continue from the initial strike to GB-25.

In Conclusion

Pressure Point GB-25 CONCLUSION

The more you know about the Pressure Points you are striking the better effect you will have,

Knowledge when applied like in Kyusho Jitsu Study is very powerful!

GB-25 is an excellent pressure point for self defense purposes as it is very easy to access under a grappling situation. As an great example is a front choke,

Now as I have said on many different occasions the more you know about the pressure points you are looking to strike, things like the principles and specifications the better you will do on the street.  Applied knowledge is so very powerful.

With that in mind I have a couple of excellent resources you will want to checkout. The first is my Kyusho Jitsu Reference eBook called Kyusho Pressure Point Anatomy. In this book I breakdown every pressure point on the body. Including Alarm Points, Associated Alarm Points and Special Alarm Points. And I also include the Extraordinary Pressure Points.

The second suggestion is the Encyclopedia of Kyusho Jitsu that is designed to allow you to access information on all things Kyusho Jitsu right from your phone.  Learn more here.

So what is your experience level in Kyusho Jitsu? Do you have any experience with Pressure Point GB-25? Thank you for taking time to read this article on Pressure Point GB-25.

Guide to Easy Pressure Point Knockout for Beginners

Easy Pressure Point Knockout

Easy Pressure Point Knockout: The other day I received a "Chat" request here from someone asking if I would write a detailed articles on pressure point knockouts. So today I am going to go into great detail on a specific Easy Pressure Point Knockout you can do right away.

The video below is of a knockout done from a Yellow Belt techniques in my system of Hapkido's roots. The end result is a slap to the Gall Bladder Cluster, GB-13, 14, & 15.

I give a detailed explanation of what I am going, and then show the same knockout from a previous time.

I did not knockout the Uki in this demonstration as he had not been feeling well. After I will go into more details for you.

Easy Pressure Point Knockout

Easy Pressure Point Knockout - Gall Bladder Cluster

This is a very good knockout for beginners as the odds of doing any permanent damage is ery, very low!

In this knockout I am not using any advanced principle at all. No stances, no sounds, no colour, just the Cycle of Destruction

Let's break it down now!

Easy Pressure Point Knockout - The Wrist Grab

The easiest method of any neurological pressure point knockout is when there is already body contact like a wrist grab. This creates an electrical connect between the 2 people and makes the job much easier. And for this easy pressure point knockout this is the perfect setup.

When someone grabs your wrist you have a mix of fire and metal. But fire is winning because there is so much of it! Always remember we have 4 Fire Meridians

The Uki is grabbing my right hand with his left. In real life this is to setup a strike with the right hand. Which is why i will move in the Octagon to the outside. I use my left hand to steady and restrain his right hand, preventing him from letting go while I move to the 90 degree angle.

This is also very valuable when looking to access pressure points! [Moving to the 90 with Octagon angles]

Note I am using my LONG fire fingers doing this! Adding more "gasoline" to his already burning fire!

Easy Pressure Point Knockout - At the Octagon Angle

easy pressure point knockout

Once I move in the Octagon to the 90 degree and while during the movement rolling my hand downward leading with my thumb I stretch the tendons of the arm, and elongate the Yin meridians.

This will cause the energy flow in the meridians to change, and the fact this brings the Uki to their tip toes alters the body mechanics of the situation.

Plus the brain from an unconscious process is wondering what is going on!

Next I tap the Uki at TW-11 with my elbow top causing a fire to fire activation of Triple Warmer, after activating Heart and possibly Pericardium when I grabbed his wrist.

So in the Cycle of Destruction what do I have thus far? The obvious is fire and metal. I have the Heart Meridian, Small Intestine, Triple Warmer and perhaps Pericardium. But do you realize I also have water? When you take a step, and break KD-01 from ground you create water.

So I have 3 of 5 of the Cycle of Destruction!

Easy Pressure Point Knockout - The Gall Bladder Cluster

Finally I am going to attack with an open hand the Gall Bladder Cluster, which are pressure points GB-13, GB-14 and GB-15. And of course this is wood in the Cycle of Destruction, of which I now have 4 elements! More than enough for a knockout.

When I hit these pressure points I will do so with an open hand, giving me fire and metal to wood, with a clockwise "chopping" action, plus of course 2 Way Action

At the very least i done correctly with all of the above and "intent" the results will be excellent!

Easy Pressure Point Knockout in Conclusion

easy pressure point knockout CONCLUSION

Now you have a recipe for a very easy pressure point knockout you can do in your Dojo.

Now please remember to be cautious always have someone spot and catch your Uke.

I see far to often people being irresponsible and allowing the Uki to free fall. This is dangerous and reckless. If the Uke is injured it is also GROSS Negligence! Thank you for taking time to read about Easy Pressure Point Knockout.

Kyusho Jitsu Microcosmic Orbits. How does energy flow in the meridians?

Kyusho Jitsu Microcosmic Orbits

Kyusho Jitsu Microcosmic Orbits is one of the high level Principles of Kyusho Jitsu I teach is the one about the Kyusho Jitsu Microcosmic Orbits. There are 2 different Microcosmic Orbits so today I shall take a look at both. These are very simple principles to understand, however their implementation is much more difficult.

Kyusho Jitsu Microcosmic Orbits - Minor

The first on the list is the Kyusho Jitsu Minor Microcosmic Orbit. This is the internal connection between the Conception and Governor Vessels.

Both the vessels begin their energy or Chi flow from the pelvic area of the body and travel upward each ending inside of the mouth.

When the tongue is touching palate of the mouth, with the mouth closed the circuit is then complete and proper energy flow is happening.

* Kyusho Jitsu Microcosmic Orbits

Minor Microcosmic Orbit Activation

Activation is a very simple process to understand. But it take a lot of training to get the continued affect from it.

If you apply a finger lock to someone, or a wrist lock with your month open you will get a certain result.

And if you close your mouth, touch your tongue to the palate you will get a much stronger result. If you visualize like the image above, and see the Chi flow increase your results will once again increase.

Training this is to close your eyes, and visualize the Chi flow path. Done often enough, when you naturally touch your tongue to the palate the unconscious mind with associate this with the training and the increased Chi flow image it has been trained with.

The result is remarkable!

Kyusho Jitsu Microcosmic Orbits - Major

The Major Microcosmic orbit is the more powerful and more advanced of the Kyusho Jitsu Microcosmic orbits.

It is essentially a different application of the 24 Hour Diurnal Cycle. Now in this case the time of day is not relevant Instead you focus on the direction of the energy flow in the meridian system.

It is essentially a different application of the 24 Hour Diurnal Cycle. Now in this case the time of day is not relevant Instead you focus on the direction of the energy flow in the meridian system.

Major Microcosmic Orbit - Activation

This is much more challenging! I suggest your become reasonably good at mediation before trying is one!

Sitting in a meditative state you would focus on and visualize the chi flow in your body through the meridians in the proper order. The better you get at this the more Chi flow will develop. The final objective is to see both sides, continuously flowing. Then add healing colours.

As I said the application is very difficult. But the result is unbelievable!

Kyusho Jitsu Microcosmic Orbits in Conclusion

Kyusho Article CONCLUSION

As I have noted many times, mastering the science of pressure point self defense is not an easy task!  It takes time, and 100's of hours of study.

And the 15 Principles of Kyusho Jitsu are the cornerstone to success. I have an awesome video series on the 15 Principles of Kyusho Jitsu you can checkout here.

Pressure Point SI-16. How to end an attack

Pressure Point SI-16

Pressure Point SI-16: I would be remiss if after writing articles on Pressure Points ST-09,10 and LI-18 not to include an article on Pressure Point SI-16. They are all located in close proximity to each other, and therefore you are like to target all of them depending on the tool used to attack. And SI-16 is a VERY dangerous pressure point.

Pressure Point Si-16 - Location

Below is an excerpt from Kyusho Pressure Point Anatomy. This will deal exclusively with Pressure Point SI-16.

Pressure Point SI-16 is in the lateral aspect of the neck, on the posterior border of the Sternocleidomastoideus muscle [Below], posterior to CO-18, 3.5 cun lateral to the laryngeal prominence.

Pressure Point SI-16 The Sternocleidomastoideus Muscle

Striking this pressure point will often cause the person to laugh, however the possible resulting damage is nothing to laugh at! If struck on the left side of the body hard enough it can stop the Heart resulting in death.

A lighter strike can cause Heart issues in anyone with a disposition to Heart problems. Sometimes this pressure point is used in knockout demonstrations, but this is fool-hearty as death can result.

Save this pressure point for life and death situations! You can learn more about Kyusho Pressure Point Anatomy here.

Pressure Point SI-16 - Effects of Results

As mentioned above if you are targeting SI-16 you will likely also hit LI-18 and / or ST-09 and ST-10. All of these are DEADLY Pressure Points with serious consequences for the attacker. In self defense people will often teach to attack the "throat." This is honestly most of the time ineffective.

Why? Because the brain will instinctively drop the chin to protect the throat. But it will not do anything to protect this groups of pressure points. This makes them excellent Self Defense targets. A solid strike, with the correct angle and direction will end the attack immediately. I am sure you can now see that Pressure Point SI-16 is an important and powerful pressure point to add to your training.

Pressure Point SI-16 in Conclusion

Pressure Point SI-16 Conclusion

The more you understand about the potential pressure points you may wish to target the better your results will be.

And these pressure points on the neck are good solid, easy to train targets.

Thank you for taking time to read this article on Pressure Point SI-16. This is part of a series of articles on this blog about specific pressure points.

Learn How to Access Pressure Points

Access Pressure Points

How do you access pressure points? I know you have heard that "pressure points don't work." Spoken by ever pretend "self defense guru" across time. So what they are saying is that hitting or striking the human body does not work?

"You can't access pressure points on the street!" Another mantra of the clueless and lazy. So you can't hit the side of the jaw or face? You need to seriously look at your training dude! It is not pressure points that are a failure, YOU ARE!

"Pressure Points require fine motor skills and only gross motor skills work." Another training failure!

So you cannot palm heal the "temple" [TW-23] area? And forget getting a firearm as shooting is 100% fine motor skills! So is Krav Maga, BJJ and damn near all the martial arts touted as being "street ready." Funny how the haters are so uneducated in Kyusho Jitsu, but can talk like they have spent more than 2 hours learning.

But I am sure you get my point, so let's get on with the article.

Access Pressure Points

The first problem with people wishing to learn and excel at the science of pressure point self defense is often times their "self defense" skills can be low. Or they are relatively new to the entire martial art world and really do not understand movement as of yet. At first most martial arts teach linear movement, and they do so for a reason. But this needs to evolve into angular movement.

Access Pressure Points - Linear Movement

When someone first begins in the martial arts they are taught "linear" movement. Someone will step forward and punch, the student will step back, block and then follow with a punch. Now this is DEAD WRONGbut we teach it that way for a reason.

You must first "break" the student of the things they think they know! Deprogram and reprogram.

And this method works! But it does take time. But then so does anything worthwhile. Pressure Point strikes here are very hard to do. Thus the failure I speak of above.

Kyusho Jitsu Factor - stance

Access Pressure Points - Circular Movement

Access Pressure Points Circular Motion

Next comes "circular" movement. However this while worthwhile learning is still very ineffective. Circular motion is what works in a ring. The person who controls the ring wins the fight. But on the street is is not effective at all.

An attacker will not follow the lead, they will close the gap in a linear fashion and attack with all they have. If they are carrying a weapon like a knife you can watch yourself bleed after the cutting begins. If you stand and fight you may have a 10% chance of success. But ONLY if you are well enough trained.

It is very hard to access pressure points or counter attack effective while doing this. Especially if you cannot get control of the attackers movement, and this is the purpose of this circular movement.

Access Pressure Points - Angular Movement

The only answer is angular movement. When the assault happens you move first, to an angle and counter from there. The "ideal" is simple, but 99% of martial artists I have found do not know anything of this, or can do this naturally. Therefore, without this motion an attack becomes chance and skill against skill.

When someone attacks you they are committed! If they are standing jabbing at you they are not serious. They are playing looking for a fight.

This guy is a douche-bag, walk away. As Bruce Lee said in Enter the Dragon, "don't waste yourself."

Access Pressure Points via the Octagon

A committed attack happens very fast. The first line of defense is to move on an angle in the OCTAGON, then counter before the assailant regroups and moves again.

When you move in the Octagon after the attack, pressure points present themselves like a smorgasbord. At this point things become very simple. But....it takes time and serious training to get to this point!

And this angular movement opens up the most deadly of the pressure points and allows time to attack them.

Access Pressure Points in Conclusion

Access Pressure Points Conclusion

Movement is everything in self defense, martial arts and the science of pressure point self defense.

How to access pressure points? Like all things in life there is a path. I know Octagon Theories work because I have had to use them in real life. And the knowledge was there when I needed it most!

Thank you for taking time from your day to read Access Pressure Points.

Kyusho Jitsu Schools Near Me. Start Right Now Learning Pressure Points FREE

Kyusho Jitsu Schools Near Me

Kyusho Jitsu Schools Near Me: Martial Art Dojo's are everywhere! In my home town of Windsor Ontario Canada there must be 30 or so. And about 8 being full out commercial like my Dojo is.

And Windsor is only 190,000 people! I have heard Toronto is over 450 commercial martial art schools. But when it comes to Pressure Point study Kyusho Jitsu Schools are a different thing.

And there is a lot of room for instructors to expand into this program! Especially because it is NOT a FAD like other things Dojo's get involved with.

Things like aerobic kickboxing or even the short term life of an MMA fighter.  Which on average is less than 18 months by the way.

Kyusho Jitsu Schools Near me?

One of the most frequently asked questions I get via email is, "are there any Kyusho Jitsu schools near me?"

And unfortunately the only answer I can usually give, especially in the USA is to go to George Dillman's website and have a look. I am working very hard to expand in the USA. But the numbers are very low, and there is so much opportunity. But no one cashes in! And this is a BIG opportunity! Especially for a Dojo owner looking to add to his or her bottom line.

I have been asked over the years of creating a database of Kyusho Jitsu schools. This would answer the inquiry are there Kyusho Jitsu Schools Near Me? But this is a daunting task, and the other organizations tend to be very paranoid and protective of their organizations.

With over a million adults training in martial arts' world wide this is ridiculous! There are enough students for everyone! No one can run the whole show. It is just not possible.

Therefore it is much better to work closely with motivated martial artists who are will to put in the time and effort to become Certified Kyusho Jitsu World Alliance teachers! From there we can make a solid database of REAL qualified Kyusho Jitsu Schools Near Me and with real qualified teachers.

Kyusho Jitsu Schools Near Me - Teach Kyusho!

Kyusho Study Groups Madrid Spain

Kyusho Jitsu Schools - Study Group in Madrid Spain. Spain has the largest groups of Certified Kyusho Jitsu Instructors in the world under the KJWA today.

When I conducted my very first Kyusho Jitsu Study Groups at my Dojo in Canada I had not idea where it would lead me. I was ready to take on 12 students, for 1 3 hour session per month. I had 15 apply without any effort!

My Dojo was only a few years old and we were working very hard to bring in new people and really make our mark! I took 12 of the 15 students and added $720 per month to my bottom line each and every month. Plus my student retention rate for adults was less than 1% because of the additions of these classes! The industry average is over 10%!

And success running a martial art school is all about KEEPING students. I even have a book about it linked previously!

Kyusho Jitsu Schools Near Me - Become a Kyusho Jitsu Instructor

Over the years I have personally in the Dojo taught many excellent martial artist to the various instructor levels.

And I have a total of 5 levels. But for most people who are beginning this journey which is a step by step path you start at Level One.

In these levels in which not only are you obtaining your own personal rank, if you do not already have it, and you are learning and qualifying for real success teaching Kyusho Jitsu Study groups or running seminars.

Kyusho Jitsu Schools - RMATC 2018

And all done in the privacy of you own home or Dojo via distance learning. Plus you will more than makeup the cost of the program in your 1st month of teaching depending on what you charge each student. Currently in Canada we are charging $75 per month for the study group. And the most important part is direct support from me personally and my staff in Canada.

If this is something you think may be of value to you please FOLLOW THIS LINK now to read more about the Level One Kyusho Instructor Certification Course. Kyusho Jitsu Schools Near Me? Perhaps it could be you?

In Conclusion

Kyusho Jitsu Schools CONCLUSION

Deciding to become a Kyusho Jitsu teacher was one of the best things I even did personally in my almost 40 years in the martial arts.

Today in my Dojo Art Mason's Peaceful Warriors Martial Arts monthly Kyusho Jitsu study groups no longer run.

What is the Kyusho Jitsu Schools Near Me in Windsor? Likely London Ontario and Steve Stewart. But I am not sure if he is still offer them.

And the Kyusho Jitsu World Alliance has some teachers world wide like Master Federico Asensio in Spain doing the same.

Update 12/31/21: Current times has cost us many Dojo's worldwide. But many teachers have decided to move on. This makes online training options more important. If Kyusho Jitsu is of interest to you consider starting with my FREE 10 Lesson Kyusho Mini Course

Are there Kyusho Jitsu Schools Near Me: That is still a very hard question to answer. Likely the answer is no.

Pressure Points That Kill. The Truth may Shock you!

* Pressure Points that Kill

Pressure Points That Kill: When I write an article or create a new book or video I research to see what people are interested in learning about. Pressure Points That Kill are one of those subject. I have already done articles related to this topic like the 3 Most Dangerous Pressure Points, or 5 Deadly Pressure Points. But the articles have never been complete. Today I am going to explain why and how you can really get the answers you are seeking.

First to understand this you must realize that everything in the body is connected. Nothing is isolated from anything else. I once worked with a man who had a very bad heart attack after having some soup he was eating go down wrong. He had a coughing fit from it. Obviously he had heart problems. But people refuse to understand the connections internally.

Kyusho Jitsu has many "haters." And these are people who either feel "threatened" by the knowledge. Tried to learn and failed, or are just LAZY egotists.

And ironically that hatred effects their heart because of the reactions of the Triple Warmer meridian and its connection to the hypothalamus

* Pressure Points that Kill

Hatred can KILL YOU, just like a correctly placed, correctly implemented pressure point strike can also. But it is a complex subject.

Pressure Points That Kill - Should I teach this?

Now this article called Pressure Points That Kill with get me emails about being careful about teaching this information. And the answer to this is YES I should teach this. Why? Because I have spent a lifetime researching people, how they think and why they do the things they do.

And keeping things, information from people is always a bad idea. Too bad the governments do not understand this! When you hide things, or make something "forbidden" you make people want it more. This is when you get someone who will misuse information.

When you make it available, and given a a barrier to entry like having to actually work for it. Then you get the "right" people with the knowledge. Pressure Points that Kill is a classic example of this type of topic.

Deadly Pressure Points for Self Defense

* Deadly Pressure Points for Self Defense

With that in mind I decided to write a new book on the subject of pressure points that kill.

Below is a list of things the reader of the book would have to be to be successful in learning what I am teaching.

You can read more about and order Deadly Pressure Points for Self Defense here.

Learning about Deadly Pressure Points

1.

The person or student would need to be a practicing martial artist with a solid foundation in their root art. Someone at the beginning of their martial art journey simply do not know enough about movement, how to correctly strike and use the tools required to get the job done. A beginner who wants to use pressure points for self defense but does not wish to put the time in required should look at HPPT. This is a simpler, yet effective solution to self defense

2.

Have a solid foundational understanding of the science of pressure point self defense Kyusho Jitsu. Without this the knowledge in this new book us useless!

3.

A calmness within, the ability to perform under stress. This comes from hard work and proper training and no other way!

Pressure Points That Kill in Conclusion

Kyusho Article CONCLUSION

You can, if need be, take someone life with correctly striking certain pressure points. You have a RIGHT to protect yourself with deadly force if required.

And a responsibility to do this also. Part of my student creed from my Dojo in Canada states. "I will ONLY fight to protect my life and the lives of others." I take this statement very seriously.

Kyusho Jitsu Octagon Theories, a Study in Natural Laws

* Kyusho Jitsu Octagon Theories

Kyusho Jitsu Octagon Theories: I am really surprised I have not written about this topic before. Kyusho Jitsu Octagon Theories is in a way a  misleading term. However I am a Kyusho Jitsu Pressure Point teacher applying the octagon theories to the science. So it works.

But Octagon Theories are not unique to Kyusho Jitsu. I was first introduced to these in 2000 and added this information to my root art of Hapkido. Subsequently changing it so much as to end up founded by own system because of it. Kyusho Jitsu Octagon Theories are powerful!

About a year ago I wrote an eBook on applying basic Octagon Theories to the science of pressure point self defense Kyusho Jitsu. I expected it would NOT be well received. But it was! So I recreated HPPT Humane Pressure Point Tactics Certification Courses based on this knowledge. Today I will explain the importance of this information.

Kyusho Jitsu Octagon Theories - Why is this Important?

That is the big question, why is this information important? Because for the science of pressure point self defense it allows better access to important pressure points, and provides better angles for attack. And this gives you a better result!

This is ancient information, based on the sword arts and updated to include the natural laws of both physics and biology. And not the modern day "political" version of these sciences.

Kyusho Jitsu Octagon Theories are based on the idea of "movement"  and the universal laws that govern movement. Moving first to reduce the affect and danger of an attack and then countering the attack. It works when integrated into any root martial art system, including ground work.

But this is an advanced study and requires much training. Keep reading more about Kyusho Jitsu Octagon Theories.

Kyusho Jitsu Octagon Theories - Origins of the Octagon

No matter what people like to think. Martial Arts training is the result of a time of peace, not warfare. Today, begin that war is a big profitable business there is much propaganda about war. It is also very common today to see soulless combat being taught as a martial art.

Most of it is honestly ineffective garbage well packaged for the consumer. The origins of the martial arts come from India and Buddhist monks who were disciples of the historical Buddha. They traveled to China and found the monks in poor physical health and therefore began to teach them the war arts, in a time of peace for health purposes.

An excellent book to read on the history is the Bodhisattva Warrior which I did once link too. However I will not support Amazon in any way. Check your local book store or martiala rts supply for this bppk.

Philosophy of the Octagon

Being part of a Buddhist tradition the Octagon and its movement are based on a Buddhist teaching called the 8 Fold Path of Buddhism. it is believed if you follow the 8 fold path you can reduce the suffering of life, and make yourself SAFE!

It was this knowledge that lead to the ideas and theories of moment in the Octagon. And when you learn, understand and apply this movement you become SAFE from attack.

But before we can get to the Noble 8 Fold Path we must discuss the 4 Noble Truths of life. Below is a brief explanation. This is an oversimplification, but will work for the purposes of what we are doing here.

The 4 Nobel Truths

1) The Truth of Suffering. Life is suffering. We no matter how well we try to think and behave SUFFER.

2) The Truth of the Cause of Suffering. We suffer for many reasons but the one which is the root cause is desire. Desire is a good thing, however when it becomes an obsession because the desire is unfulfilled we suffer greatly. Then the tendency is to have actions that make the suffering worse.

* Kyusho Jitsu Octagon Theories

3) The Truth of the End of Suffering. Referred to in Buddhism as "Nirvana" this is the way life becomes when the suffering ends. I can talk for hours on what this means. But lets just say here that this is when life has REAL meaning.

4) The Truth of the PATH to end Suffering. The Path to Enlightenment, to the end of Suffering is the 8 Fold Path of Buddhism. This is the Octagon of life..

The Eight Fold Path

1) Right Understanding - Knowing that the 4 Noble Truths are indeed true and just the way life is. Life is a challenge to be overcome.

2) Right Thought - Thoughts become actions and then become things. Control of our thoughts is a must for a life with less suffering.

3) Right Speech - Speak only when your words are of value. Right speech means to avoid untruth, lies and gossip. These ways of speech only lead to more suffering. If you cannot speak the truth, then at least do not lie.

4) Right Conduct - To never fight to achieve self ends or do unnecessary harm. Right actions in all things.

Kyusho Jitsu Octagon Theories

You will notice in the image of the Dharma Wheel that its layout is the same as the Octagon we use in training.

5) Right Livelihood - Your work in life needs to be of value to you and your family. If your job does not give your life meaning and is a benefit to your family and the community, then it is not the right job.

6) Right Mental Attitude or Effort - Avoid negative emotions like anger. These happen to us all but staying in the emotion is a choice. As Buddha said "you will not be punished for your anger, but by your anger."

7) Right Mindfulness - Having a clear sense of one’s mental state and bodily health and feelings.

8) Right Concentration - Using mediation or prayer to keep the mind clear and focused.

The Eight Fold Path is also known as the "Dharma Wheel."

Based on these teaching an understanding of movement was created. But much of this information was lost to the world as the martial arts became commercialized. There are today only a handful or us with this knowledge or teaching it.  I hope you are beginning to see the advantage of understanding Kyusho Jitsu Octagon Theories.

Kyusho Jitsu Octagon Theories in Conclusion

Kyusho Jitsu Octagon Theories

Kyusho Jitsu Octagon Theories are a very deep learning. And it is beyond the scope of any article to teach it.

Plus if you choose to learn this, and add it to your root art as well as your Kyusho Jitsu training you must follow directions to the letter.

If you add your own twist to things to soon, you will not get the results. This is the foundation on which everything I have been teaching for the last 23 years is based on.

Yesterday I released the first videos in a course on beginners Octagon Theories. I am expecting it to be about 4 videos in length and while the information will seem advanced to those who take the course, it is really only the beginning.

Pressure Point LI-20. What makes this meridian important?

* Pressure Point LI-20 [Large Intestine]

Pressure Point LI-20: It has been a while since I last featured a pressure point in an article. So today I am going to have a look at a favorite, that is Pressure Point LI-20 [Large Intestine]. Why do I like this one? Because it is a powerful pressure point of the face, that yields some excellent results if you access it correctly. So lets have a look!

Pressure Point LI-20 [Large Intestine] - Location

Pressure Point LI-20 is located in the nasolabial groove, at the level of the midpoint of the lateral border of the ala nasal in the quadratus labii superior muscle, in its deep position at the border of the aperture piriformis.

Pressure Point LI-20 [Large Intestine]

Pressure Point LI-20 - Effect

I have done several knockouts using this pressure point as the result is very consistent. This is not a dangerous pressure point, but because the meridian crosses the body (the only meridian to cross the body) the brain becomes very confused because of the strike. Pressing is also very painful! Especially if done while supporting the back of the head sealing at GB-20 or BL-10. The activation is in and down with 2 Way Action.

Sealing causes a disruption of energy where the energy remains in the head, mid skull. This bouncing effect causes an increase in pain. Leverage can also be applied in this situation to increase effectiveness as well. This is the body mechanics element of the activation of the pressure point.

LI-20 is not a nerve pressure point like ST-05 is. This is an energy transfer pressure point. However it is in very close proximity to an excellent nerve pressure point is Extraordinary Pressure Points M-Hn-9.

However Pressure Point LI-20 is an excellent knockout pressure point because it crosses the center of the body. Anytime mid-line is cross this causes an issue or dysfunction in the brain which will cause confusion and a reboot if there is enough confusion.

Below is a video of a Pressure Point LI-20 knockout I did a while back.

You can demonstrate the effect of a cross body condition by having the Uki with their hands at their sides. Strike a pressure point like ST-05 lightly.

Then have the Uki cross body with one hand, but the hand not touching the body. Then tap ST-05 once again.

You will see a dramatic increase in affect.

Pressure Point LI-20 [Large Intestine]

This is caused by the "corpus callosum" and the fact that the left side of the brain controls the right side of the body and vica-versa.

Pressure Point LI-20 in Conclusion

Kyusho Article CONCLUSION

In a grappling position this can be a wonderfully effective pressure point if you can keep your cool and access it.

But that is why we are training right?

In the knockout above, LI-20 would not be my choice of pressure points. However in that class I was teaching theories.

These theories are an important learning tool in the science of pressure point self defense Kyusho Jitsu. This is because these teaching open the mind to see the possibilities available to it. This is how unconscious movement is created.

Have you had any experience with Pressure Point LI-20? Or have you experimented with cross body movement? Thank you for reading this article in Pressure Point LI-20.

Kyusho Seasons of Life. What season are you in?

* Kyusho Seasons of Life

What am I referring to when I say "Kyusho Seasons of Life?" A long time ago people understood the seasons of life. Today, youth is valued higher than age, which is a critical error in thinking in my opinion. The season of winter is no longer honored in most cultures and what a sad situation that is. Wisdom comes from experience, not books, Facebook, Twitter or opinions. And the elderly are a wealth of wisdom and knowledge, if you listen.

Because Kyusho Jitsu operates in the 5 Element Theory from Taoism and Traditional Chinese Medicine the season because important.  But most people will never be able to understand or apply this knowledge. However, maybe a few will understand this article. Even if one person does, then I have done my job!

In our world, for much of the planet we have 4 season per year. In life because of the 5 Element Theory we have 5 seasons. And each season has an element. Let's take a deep look at all of this.

Kyusho Seasons of Life - The Seasons

Spring - Wood

* Kyusho Seasons of Life

Spring is the Wood Element. And on a calendar begins with the Spring Equinox.

In life it is your birth. At this point in life your energy fields and meridian systems are growing and developing.

It is a very difficult task to add an age to these seasons, because everyone is different. But for the sake of argument lets call this birth to 18.  Part one of the Kyusho Seasons of Life.

1st Summer - Fire

Summer begins at the Summer Solstice. This is logically people from lets say 18-25. Again there is not way to be accurate.

This is the burning or fire within you to achieve and reproduce. That begins to slow down around the again 25. Another part of the Kyusho Seasons of Life.

* Kyusho Seasons of Life

2nd Summer - Earth

The second summer comes when you begin to become rooted. Life takes on a less chaotic form and begins to settle down. Age wise this is from 25 to 40. Time frames today are very different due to the obsession with consumption we see today. Kyusho Seasons of Life.

Autumn - Metal

The Autumn years of life begin around the age of 40 and run to about 60. Your direction in life changes and you begin to think on a more conservative manner. As you grow older you begin to see the need to save or conserve. Health begins to change and recovery from injuries slows down considerably.  If health has not been cared for in the younger years chronic illnesses begin to show.

Winter - Water

* Kyusho Seasons of Life

I am entering the Winter of my life. Winter is 60 till death. And because our western culture has become so messed up people think this is a bad thing. It is not, it is a wonderful thing.  If you lived the seasons well winter becomes a peaceful time.

You understand how your body works and moves. And you feel changes in your health.

But only when you understand the season.  Old Man Winter is long and wise. I hope to reflect that wisdom. Here is an article on martial arts ties to the winter season, it is called 3 Friends of Winter

Kyusho Seasons of Life -  Why does this matter?

So how closely have you been paying attention? Did you see this is the Cycle of Creation. Not all of Kyusho means destruction. This Kyusho Seasons of Life is about healing. And you cannot defend yourself if your body is in "dis-ease."

But in our fast moving, instant gratification world most have lost touch with this.

The Kyusho Seasons of Life are about healing, as I have already said. And when you understand the Cycle of Creation and were you lie within it, you can then use this information to healing the body, keep the Chi growing and developing. And when the body is healthy, movement comes easy, and the body will flow within your martial arts training with ease and grace.

You can also see this in the levels of martial art mastery. When this is understood and internalized you have mastered the mind-body-spirit that we all strive for.

Kyusho Seasons of Life in Conclusion

Kyusho Article CONCLUSION

Martial Arts training is not a tough guy competition.

It is not a forum to show off your skills to others. If you think that way I feel bad for you. You miss the purpose.

It is a never ending journey of the self. A journey to find balance and peace within. Balance comes from proper training, proper life style and proper thinking.

What season of life are you currently in? How do you see this time, yor season? Where are you in your martial arts training? I would love to hear. Here is another article on An Old Man's Art. Have a read if you have a moment.
