Pressure Point ST-12. A Great Strike for Beginners.

* v

Pressure Point ST-12: As I continue the ongoing series on the different pressure points on the body we look today at ST-12 [Stomach]. My last article was on Pressure Point HT-02. As I progress along this road of featuring different pressure points I have been getting some negative comments on FB.

Now I rarely answer comments there because I think Facebook is worthless and a detriment to society. I do write about these pressure points because learning is the most important thing.

If you think you know everything please visit another pressure point instructor. I have no interest in you.

I am only interested in OPEN minded STUDENTS. Not know it all people, who know nothing.

Pressure Point ST-12

Pressure Point ST-12 is in the midpoint of the supraclavicular fossa, 4 cun lateral to the Conception Vessel or in the depression at the middle of the superior border of the clavicle and directly above the nipple.

The Pressure Point Stomach 5

Pressure Point ST-12 is a very effective pressure point in self defense and can usually end a fight if a strike is landed. The clavicle  or collar bone is a very weak bone and when damaged causes great local pain.

Also, the arms on that side cannot be lifted. A great self defense pressure point! ST-12 is also one of the 36 Dim Mak Vital Points.

And most importantly because of its location this is an excellent pressure point to use for self defense training. This is best struck using a hammer fist.

Pressure Point Prejudice

Prejudiced is normal in all intelligent animals. And it is a good thing depending on the circumstances. However when we have "favorite" techniques or pressure points we are limiting ourselves. And these limits lead to failure over time.

When this happens you become bound by your beliefs. TRY to always be learning and expanding your understanding of all things. Advanced study means to follow and understand the natural laws, but not to be limited by them.

Pressure Point study requires critical thinking.

Pressure Point ST-12 - In Conclusion

Pressure Point ST-12 CONCLUSION

I have been doing a series on different pressure points of the human body for many years. Pressure Point ST-12 being the latest.

And I hope you have been reading them all. There are over 250 articles on this blog, which is a massive resource for FREE information.

Take advantage of this!

Thank you for reading Pressure Point ST-12. It is part of a very large series! Read them all!

Pressure Point HT-02. What it takes to stop a heart

* Pressure Point HT-02

Pressure Point HT-02: It has been a while since I authored an article on a specific pressure points of the body. Therefore today we will take a look at a good one, Pressure Point HT-02. This pressure point is also listed in the article on the Heart Meridian which I do suggest reading also.

Some pressure points are extremely dangerous for many different reasons. Others are simply very painful. Some are both. When it comes to attacking meridians on the body, as an example with the idea of meridian theory, this is a powerful one.

And this pressure point can cause a knockout as well. However something to remember is that sometimes one of the advantages of pressure points are their ability to cause imbalance, and therefore make great setup points. Pressure Point HT-02 also falls into this category.

Pressure Point HT-02 - Location

* Best Combat Pressure Points

When the elbow is flexed, the point is 3 cun above the medial end of the transverse cubital crease, (HT-03), in the groove medial to the biceps brachii

This is also a “nerve” pressure point and striking will cause incredible pain and loss of use the arm. A knockout is also very possible because of the proximity to the radial nerve and radial artery.

While not as dangerous as Pressure Point HT-01 or PC-02 you can still get an excellent result with this pressure point. Whether it be attacked via an punch or grab and press.

Pressure Point HT-02 In Conclusion

Pressure Point HT-02 CONCLUSION

So where and when is this pressure point the most useful? Today the streets are very volatile, perhaps the most volatile seen in a century.

This pressure point is very useful on anyone who believe may have a heart issue. And with the tremendous real epidemic of obesity today heart issues are very common.

And since the arms always present in an attack, pressure point HT-02 becomes accessible and a great choice. Thank you for taking time to read Pressure Point HT-02.

Cycle of Creation. What makes this so powerful?

* Cycle of Creation

Cycle of Creation. What makes this so powerful? This is an article I have been thinking about writing a long time. But the information is complex and from a Kyusho Jitsu / Pressure Point standpoint will not necessarily yield fast results. However from a Dim Mak point of view the information on Cycle of Creation is very, very useful.

I have written other articles that concern the topic of the 5 Element Theory and I strongly suggest you read them. One in particular is the Cycle of Destruction

First I will start with where the idea of using acupuncture points in a martial art came from. Without going crazy on history it was a martial artist who was a doctor of acupuncture who wondered if these pressure points could be used destructively. This is how Dim Mak, the mother of Kyusho Jitsu was born.

The idea behind Traditional Chines Medicine TCM is that all illness is a result of an imbalance in the body. And when you restore balance to the body it will naturally heal itself. This is how I have personally view my own, and my families health since the early 1990's. The result has been outstanding health, and no illness. TCM is about restoring health through balance, were western medicine is about keeping you sick to make more profits. This is done via suppressing symptoms to make someone feel better versus fixing the root cause.  All you need to do is watch TV in the Western Culture to see this truth. "see your doctor about our drug dejour, side effects up to and including death."

Creating Imbalance - Cycle of Creation

The idea of using the cycle of destruction in Kyusho is to weaken an element to make it easier to manipulate, or cause pain. And this is very effective. So how can the Cycle of Creation be used?  First lets look at an example of illness.

Now I am NOT a doctor of TCM so this is just an example. Let's suppose that the illness a person has is the result of excess fire in the meridians. This as an example could cause an issue in the lungs. So in Kyusho we might add water to the fire to deplete it and cause lung issues.  However you could also add wood to the fire to increase it. This is cycle of creation as wood creates fire.

Yes this is a complex idea! And that is why I make reference to Dim Mak more than Kyusho Jitsu when it comes to this principle.

Let's look at another example.

Again, I caution this is an over simplification! Let's suppose you wish to cause a delayed death in someone. And of course we are talking about Dim Mak skills. You are aware they have Heart issues and therefore you wish to cause a heart problem, but without striking perhaps Pressure Point HT-01 to get the results. You could weaken the Heart Meridian, or the Pericardium Meridian by attacking with water, the Cycle of Destruction. Or you could add wood to the fire via Gall Bladder or the Liver Meridian

However you could also increase Earth to increase Wood to Increase Fire.  As you can see this is very complex.

Cycle of Creation In Conclusion

First I will start with where the idea of using acupuncture points in a martial art came from. Without going crazy on history it was a martial artist who was a doctor of acupuncture who wondered if these pressure points could be used destructively. This is how Dim Mak, the mother of Kyusho Jitsu was born. CONCLUSION

It is well beyond any article to teach the usage of the Cycle of Creation. It begins with an understanding the 5 Element Theory and the Power of Yin Yang. In true study of the martial arts and especially systems like Dim Mak and Kyusho Jitsu, do require an understanding of healing as well as destruction.

All illness and there is no exception is the result of the body trying to regain balance. Once balance is restored health is restored also. This requires no special chemicals that have horrible side effects, only some common sense about diet, exercise and meditation to keep the mind calm. Again this is over simplification. But it is worth the study. From both a health standpoint as well as a martial arts standpoint. I have a book called the Tao of Health and Longevity that you might find helpful.

Thank you for reading this article on the Cycle of Creation.

Why Pressure Point Knockouts Fail! What went wrong?

* Why Pressure Point Knockouts Fail!

Why Pressure Point Knockouts Fail! First before I get into the meat of the subject I want to qualify the word knockout. When it comes to pressure points or Kyusho Jitsu if you prefer I like the term Brain Dysfunction better. Knockout implies an absolute state of unconsciousness which does happen, but not always.

Pressure Point Knockout fail for a few reasons. One will be the focus of the article. I will however address another briefly.

Also here is an article on the 3 types of knockouts that occur. And most of all, an article on making sure your Uke is safe at all times.

Now the uneducated masses will now scream the reason pressure point knockouts fail is because pressure points do not work. WRONG, any failure in any martial art is always YOU! You either do not study hard enough, train hard enough, or perhaps to are too egotistical to learn. Now with that out of the way lets move on.

Why Pressure Point Knockouts Fail! - Missing the Mark

This is the first and most usual reason for failure of a knockout. You are attempting to hit as an example Pressure Point GB-20 and you are off the mark. This is common especially in Novice students. However time does fix this issue. And this will occur most often at exams and demonstrations. Most of all it is also linked to the main reason for the article.

And that reason is BODY MECHANICS, but not body mechanics in the usual way I discuss them.

When I first began my Kyusho Jitsu learning knockouts were very easy for me. And I watched many people struggle with them. However my students, those who studied in my Dojo Art Masons' Peaceful Warriors Martial Arts had very few issues with knockouts. That is unless one thing happened. And this was they did not have correct triangular alignment

And there is a reason for this.

Why Pressure Point Knockouts Fail!

And I must be honest, I did not see this reason at first. But the root art I founded [Hon Sang Mu Sa Hapkido], based on my original root art of Kuk Sul Hapkido was also based heavily on the foundations of Kosho Shorei Ryu, which is all about correct body position and alignments.

Let's take a look at a knockout I recorded many years ago.

Now while the camera is not at the best position please note that as I place my left hand on his jawline, and the strike with the right hand, the point from my two shoulders to my hands creates a triangle making Pressure Point ST-05 the focal point of this triangle.

In this shot to the right you can well see the triangular alignment being created.

* Why Pressure Point Knockouts Fail!

Let's look at another knockout, this time on the leg at Pressure Point SP-11.

Interestingly, because of Kosho I unconsciously always look for triangular alignment whenever I train.

I also make sure I am relaxed and ever out of my center. In this image you can see how I lined up my centers with my Uke's so the kick could be sent to the center I forced upon him, giving me correct angle and direction, as well as correct distance.

The result is a knockout on a leg pressure point. That is how powerful all this knowledge is when worked correctly and trained constantly. Now you are really seeing why Pressure Point Knockouts Fail!

* Why Pressure Point Knockouts Fail!

Why Pressure Point Knockouts Fail! - In Conclusion

Why Pressure Point Knockouts Fail! CONCLUSION

I hope this information helps you to see the reason why pressure point knockouts fail. Without correct body mechanics, correct centers and alignments you will not get the result you want. Some root arts like many of the Kempo styles have these mechanics within the from day one.

Most martial arts, like Hapkido as ONE example DO NOT.

And this knowledge when trained becomes natural and can be applied on the streets. And to those who want to cry that it cannot, well keep your mind closed and limited. You are the failure not the martial arts.

Thank you for reading Why Pressure Point Knockouts Fail!

Classifications of Attack. How to Respond Correctly

* Classifications of Attack

Classifications of Attack: How to respond correctly in a street self defense situation? People have only 2 arms, 2 hands, 2 legs and a brain [brain seems optional today]. Therefore they are only so many ways in which a person can attack another person.

However in the martial arts world often times instructors with big ego scare the students into believing that this is more complicated than it really is. Plus we have sport. Sport is the self esteem killer. Also sport vs reality is like an ice hockey player trying to skate on a football field.

Hence sport in martial art in a small box. Where ONLY physical fitness and youth matter. Either you have the guts for it or you do not. This is martial arts through tunnel vision only seeing what they want you to see. Yet the propaganda of our failed culture tells you it is all.

Classifications of Attack

What are the classifications of attack? Understanding and studying this is how you can learn to successful handle bad situations. But notice the word "study." If you do not study and train for this you will not be successful. And I hope you would not end up like so many of the failures in the arts, like the bullshido clowns, who attack everything they are too lazy to train in. I do not read what they write for the same reasons I do not drink from the toilet. And I have been featured a few times. But there opinion of me is non of my business. And those who believe them I do not want for students anyways. These people are not critical thinkers

There are 3 Classifications of Attack
  • Push
  • Grab
  • Punch

That is all! Someone who wishes to do you harm will either push you, grab you or punch you. There are no other options. They may do a combination of these also. And someone with a knife of other weapon falls under punch. This is a Kyusho Jitsu / Pressure Point Novice understanding. However it goes far deeper than this.

Classifications of Attack - Taught Wrong on Purpose

The problem in the martial arts world is what is being taught today is far from complete. Because of commercialization, and I have no issue with commercialization, people view martial art training as an activity or a sport. Most operating schools have content to teach for maybe 3-5 years and then run out of information.

Students learn 6 blocks, a few kicks and punches, a couple of Kata and suddenly are enlightened. I was no different myself.

A student is taught techniques called "One Step Sparring" in which the attacker or Uke will attack once. And as an example the defender with step back or forward in a linear fashion, do a hard block and counter punch. The the student will do some free sparring dancing around and they are told this will work on the street. 100 percent wrong information.

There is nothing wrong with teaching any of this. The issue is that this is that it is not expanded upon. Martial Artists are taught what to do. But not when or how to do this. In real life with reference to the one step sparring the attacker will strike with the other hand long before the counter attack is launched.

Classifications of Attack

This understanding is not a revelation. Most of all, as I stated above the martial art masters of old taught wrong on purpose. But the teaching was never corrected. And honestly it is far beyond any article or single course to do this.

Therefore it is up to the student to decide if they wish to continue to learn, or they are happy where they currently are.  For me I will continue to learn as long as my heart keeps beating. Now I am sure you are getting what is meant by Classifications of Attack

Kyusho Meridian Theory. How to turn Mistakes to Victories

* Kyusho Meridian Theory

Kyusho Meridian Theory. How to turn Mistakes to Victories. Imagine not having to be accurate when targeting a pressure point. Is this possible?

Kyusho Jitsu or pressure point study is primarily an intellectual study that assumes you are a trained martial artist.

 I do not teach people the basics of motion for the most part. However Kyusho Meridian Theory is different.

Once the basic understanding is made then the body needs to positioned to make the meridians vulnerable. And they are not vulnerable when you might expect. Also to access them you need to train to move on time and to the correct angle.

This is not as hard as you might think. However, once again this is something you have to train. And in our current broken society work, hard work is not well viewed. People want things NOW. But life does not work that way.

Training Kyusho Meridian Theory

One way to see what I am talking about in action is to have your Uke stand with their arm outstretched. Also have the arm centered within the body. Now strike a pressure point like LI-10 or perhaps lung 5 or 6. Note the effect.

Let your Ike heal for a few minutes. Next have the Uke do the same thing but with the arm sticking straight out to the side. Repeat the test on the pressure point. You will notice a much more amplified effect.

And once again allow the Uke some time to heal. Now stretch the arm to the side, and if possible have someone pull the arm to stretch it more. This time strike the "area" of the pressure point, not directly on it. Note the increase inresults.

Most of all if you do this correctly the results will be off the chart, and you missed the pressure point. This is the basis of Kyusho meridian theory. Pretty cool eh?

Movement is Required in Kyusho Meridian Theory

Now I have not approached or really focused Kyusho Jitsu teachings on the student movements within their art. And from the standpoint of pure Kyusho Jitsu training I really do not need to. However I am making an assumption that you train continuously and correctly.

Now after all the teachings in pressure points I have made available, I am going to begin to teach in earnest how to move and when to move to be effective. And this includes times when perhaps you might miss the pressure point and can therefore take advantage of Kyusho Meridian Theory.

Most of all I have a book that details this topic for Kyusho Jitsu students. It is called Kosho Book of Q-Sho. Have a look and see if this might be for you.

The Governor Vessel Meridian. The Source of all Yang Energy

* Governor Vessel Meridian
The Governor Vessel Meridian. The Source of all Yang Energy. Today's article is the second of two articles on the Acupuncture Vessels on the human body.  The body has 2 vessels which run the center-lines of the body.

The Governor Vessel Meridian is located on the back of the body. It begins at the north (up) part of the anus and runs up the center of the spine and up the center of the head. It terminates under the pallet inside the mouth. Most of all this vessel is the source for all YANG energy in the body. There is no element related to the Governor.

However it is important to note that while no element is predominate, it does transmit all element energies in their YANG form. As an example YANG Water, or YANG Fire.

The Governor Vessel Meridian

The Conception Vessel Meridian is the home of many very important pressure points to be studied. There are a total of 28 Pressure Points on Governor. Very importantly is the understanding that many of these pressure points if stuck can cause serious harm to the body up to and including death.

Governor Vessel Meridian - Important Pressure Points

Here is a list of the important pressure points on the Governor Vessel Meridian when we consider them from a destructive aspect.

Any strike to the the Governor Vessel meridian is dangerous not just from a neurological aspect put the fact the meridians runs the length of the spine and the middle of the head. There are also several of the 36 Dim Mak Vital Points on Governor.

The deeper the understanding you have of each pressure point on the body the more effective you can become with Kyusho Jitsu. It is not possible to remember all of them. However references like my Kyusho Pressure Point Anatomy or my Online Encyclopedia of Kyusho are a great place to start.

Kyusho Article CONCLUSION

This is the final in the meridian series I have done. I will link below to them all. Here is a link also the article on the Conception Vessel Meridian.

The study of Kyusho Jitsu is very rewarding. When you stimulate the mind to THINK (a lost art in the 21st century) and expand your mind, not only do you benefit your training but your health in general.

The martial art systems taught today are very incomplete and many are not arts at all. This is why so many believe that the arts do not work on the street. Those seeking instant gratification in life will not train seriously. Only people dedicated to growth as a human being, and an interest in returning to a world of values of old like morality and truth will succeed.

Also I have done articles for all the Acupuncture Meridians of the body linked here. Thank you for taking time to read Governor Vessel Meridian.
