Pressure Point Fighting is it effective on the streets today?

* Pressure Point Fighting is it effective on the streets today?

What is Pressure Point Fighting? What does this "term" really mean? Today I want to discuss this very commonly used term that is used to refer to the science of pressure point self defense Kyusho Jitsu. And it applies to all martial artists today.

Pressure Point Fighting - Meaning

I draw a very big thick black line between the terms "fighting" and "self defense." And for me I believe this is a very important differentiation. There are also different terms used for pressure points.

Terms like karate pressure points, kyusho pressure points and acupuncture pressure points are also used in the same context.

The "fight" people are referring to is a disagreement or an argument that turns to violence. The cause can be many different things.

However it is a lack of discipline on both parts. And it does seem to be the human condition. But when we glorify violence like we do today this cannot be a shock.

*

So how is Pressure Point Fighting a things? What makes it different than any other kind of fighting?

I had to really consider if I was going to write an article referring to "Pressure Point Fighting" at all. Then after some consideration I decided to do so, hoping perhaps I can make people see this in a different light.

Today the world is all about marketing. Your data is harvested and sold by Google and Facebook really without your permission. Yes you signed a terms of service, but to understand this most of us would need a lawyer!

Martial Arts is no different. Some of the best marketing I have ever seen is in our industry. And that is not necessarily a bad thing. As long as we question and look at things objectively.

An great example of great martial arts marketing is and was the Gracie's. They sold the martial arts world on the idea that 99% of fights go to the ground, which is not statistically true, but then creating a venue for their product to prove their claims. They became, and rightfully so martial arts icons.

I market to the martial arts world non stop the ideas of integrating pressure points into your self defense system to make it more effective. But I do not want you to believe me! I want you to question and try it out, to make your own "informed" decisions!

Does Pressure Point Fighting Work?

The Pressure Point Stomach 5

Does Pressure Point Fighting work? This is a very common question, however the wrong question. And how questions are asked is very important!  If I strike ANYONE in this world on ST-09 I will get a devastating result up to and including DEATH.

Now if you refer to a "fight" once again the question really is "do I have the skill and level of training to deal with a stronger, bigger appointment?"

Now if you refer to a "fight" once again the question really is "do I have the skill and level of training to deal with a stronger, bigger appointment?"

Or in a "Self Defense" situation "do I have the training and presence of MIND to deal with an attacker?"

Are pressure points themselves effective? That question has been proven time and time again my men and women who have been trained in their usage, who's livelihood has them in high risk jobs. Yes Pressure Point Fighting is effective. But you must do the work. They are not a quick fix.

I personally have trained several military and police personnel who will confirm this claim And the ones who say pressure points do not work are those who did not do the work, study and apply the knowledge

Opinions can vary, but if you have never done the work, your opinion has no value. This is why I do not comment on combat systems like Krav Maga.  I have never seriously studied it! So how can I have an opinion?

I do however believe that selling people "combat" systems is a reckless idea. But that also depends on how it is promoted and if the ideal of "reasonable force" is explained. In true combat there is no need for reasonable force. Pressure Point Fighting allows for reasonable force to be used and maintained.

Pressure Points Fighting - Self Defense Solutions

Since the mid 90's after being in a bad situation with a very dangerous man I began to pursue what real self defense means. And this was after 10 years of intense 7 days a week martial arts training. I could not have handled him alone. Very few people could have.

What saved me was my "presence of mind" which allowed me to take the best possible action and let the police deal with the man. And they did.

Humane Pressure Point Tactics - H.P.P.T

After many years of non stop study, taking courses and other martial arts from some amazing teachers, I developed what I call "holistic" systems that can be incorporated into any martial art, or taught alone, to improve the odds and your effectiveness on the street without ending up in prison.

Back around 2009 I was introduced to a certification course Grand Master Steve Stewart offers called Humane Pressure Point Tactics. This was the BEST heads up information I had seen to date. I took the courses and certified as a teacher. This course gives a great understanding about Pressure Point Fighting.

I also taught these courses non stop back in Canada. But recently I took the information and updated it. Why? Because to my mind the original courses are aimed more at law enforcement. I wanted to create something for the general public.

So what is the difference? In my systems I have added information that pertains more to the "civilian" looking to protect him or her self and their family. Not someone in law-enforcement who is looking to apprehend the assailant.

However I do use the same term, as I include all the same information, and I am a certified instructor in these courses.

Are Pressure Point Knockouts Dangerous? What is the risk?

Are Pressure Point Knockouts Dangerous?

So are Pressure Point Knockouts Dangerous? Today let's take a look at what is a controversial question and see if we can put the controversy to bed! Controversy comes from a misrepresentation of Kyusho Jitsu, and usually perpetrated by those who do not know. Time to clear up the mystery.

Pressure Point Knockouts Dangerous - Not Light Touch

Are Pressure Point Knockouts Dangerous? The answer is a resounding YES. This is where I must start! However some pressure points are more dangerous than others, and some are not dangerous at all.

And not all pressure point will result in a knockout. While others will do so very easily!  How dangerous a pressure point is depends on its location on the body of the pressure point in question. These points are not magic! That is a common misunderstanding of what a pressure point is. They are tied to the neurological systems of the body.

Standard pressure point lie on energy flow channels called meridians. There are 12 main meridians on the body, each with varying numbers of pressure points on them. Now some pressure points are purely energy related, while others lie in critical areas with important nerve functions.

Pressure Point Knockouts Dangerous

Below is a list of some of the common pressure points that are used by many Kyusho Jitsu practitioners and exactly how dangerous they can be.

Are Pressure Point Knockouts Dangerous?

Pressure Point ST-05

Are Pressure Point Knockouts Dangerous? This is most likely the favorite of all pressure points for knockouts. The reason is that it is very accessible and give a great result about 90% of the time. Is it dangerous? Yes, depending on how hard you strike it. Let's take a look!

The first thing I must add is all pressure points of the head are dangerous! Hitting them correctly and hard can cause death. This is for many different reasons too! And this includes ST-05.

What makes this pressure point dangerous is its proximity to the  "jugular vein" under the jaw bone. This vein is monitored by the vagus nerve which is also called the heart nerve.

You can read all about Pressure Point ST-05 here. Below is a video of a knockout on ST-05 done in a way as to protect the Uki and still get a clean knockout.  Are Pressure Point Knockouts Dangerous, I have seen this one go bad. So yes!

Kyusho Jitsu Self Defense Tips

Pressure Point CO-24

Are Pressure Point Knockouts Dangerous? This is a knockout I did that came under fire for doing [below].  Many of the Kyusho people in world were concerned because this can disrupt the Yin energy in the body and result in long term issues for the Uki. There is also a concern of permanent and serious jaw damage. However the way I did the knockout was to assure the safety of the Uki, and prevent damage.

Striking this pressure point shocks the brain and therefore causes dysfunction.  In this knockout because the body was out of alignment, the head back, it was easy to get the result without much impact.

I do understand people's concerns about this knockout, as this one can be very dangerous. However that being said I have done my homework for years.

I know these pressure points inside and out. And I never strike a pressure point in a demonstration, or teaching environment just to see what happens. Are Pressure Point Knockouts Dangerous? Yes they can be very danergous!

KNOW YOUR PRESSURE POINTS

Pressure Point GB-24

Pressure Point Knockouts Dangerous? Is Pressure Point Gall Bladder 24 a dangerous pressure point? OMG YES! It is however often times used for demonstrations not realizing the potential dangers of striking too hard.

GB-24 is located on the upper abdomen, directly below the nipple, in the 7th intercostal space, 4 cun (finger widths) lateral to the anterior mid-line of the chest. This area of the body, the rib cage is monitored and protected by the intercostal nerves. The intercostal nerves are part of the somatic nervous system, and arise from the anterior "rami" of the thoracic spinal nerves from "T1" to "T11."

Are Pressure Point Knockouts Dangerous?

GB-24 is not the most dangerous pressure point in the area. There are several others, however a solid strike can break the ribs and cause serious lung damage. GB-24 is also an Alarm Point

Here is one more knockout, this time on GB-24 using sound as to not have the need to strike hard. Caution is required with sound. But once again I have done my homework. Are Pressure Point Knockouts Dangerous? This is an Alarm Point and can affect the health of the organ. So again yes!

Are Pressure Point Knockouts Dangerous?

Now that I have discussed the dangers of a few of 3 pressure points found on the body lets tie this in with the effect of a knockout.

I have been very cautious doing knockouts as demonstration in order to prevent issues later on. In other words I have done the work! There is nothing more important than cautious, responsible training. I have seen Kyusho students do serious damage in the past and it is all unnecessary.

So where do I begin? First and foremost understand FULLY the pressure point you intend to strike. Set the pressure point up properly so you do not need a ton of impact to get the brain dysfunction you are seeking.

On the street is different, in Dojo responsibility is a MUST!  First, NEVER allow the Uki to free fall after a knockout. This is careless and STUPID. Leave your ego at the door.

You cannot guarantee the fall will not result in a neck injury that may result in the Uki being paralyzed or even DEAD. You cannot have a student sign a waver to protect you against GROSS negligence! And this is GROSS negligence.

Next study resuscitation and understand it FULLY! No one will want to work with your of they feel terrible after a knockout.

Now let's take a look at one more Pressure Point in reference to "are pressure point knockouts dangerous."

The Pressure Point Stomach 5

Pressure Point ST-09

One of the Top 10 Most Deadly Pressure Points ST-09 is NOT to be played with!

Striking this pressure point with "low to medium" force will result in a knockout due to the drastic drop in blood pressure the strike will cause.

Depending on the health of the Uki, and you NEVER really know, this can result in the heart stopping because of the drop in blood pressure. It is also possible as the blood pressure comes back quick for a stroke to occur (yes there is more to this, which I am not going into here.)

Are Pressure Point Knockouts Dangerous in Conclusion

Kyusho Article CONCLUSION

To wraps this up, the only way you should be doing knockouts is to have done the homework first!

I have heard so many times people saying "I tried using pressure points in a fight and it did not work."

Well when you do not do the work, you will not get the results PERIOD. And if you do some of the work, the result may NOT BE what you want!

Many years ago I know of a situation personally where a inexperienced man accidentally killed some playing around with ST-09. He was a Novice student in the USA.

There was an inquest and I know one of the witnesses personally. No charges were laid, but this man must live with his carelessness for the rest of his life. Not to mention the family of the man who lost his life.

Thank you for taking time to read are Pressure Point Knockouts Dangerous.

The George Dillman Controversy. A Polarizing Man

The George Dillman Kyusho Controversy

Grand Master George Dillman [DKI] is one of the most, if not the most controversial person in martial arts history. So today I am going to give my viewpoint on this very controversial man. All from personal experience. So let's rock!

George Dillman

The martial arts industry is certainly an interesting one. And after almost 40 years in the arts I have to tell you I am NOT a fan! Martial Arts students and their teachers are supposed to stand for certain values, things like "integrity."

But sadly this seems to be missing in a LARGE number of people in the industry.

Integrity Meaning:

Meaning of Integrity

"Integrity is the quality of being honest and having strong moral principles, or moral uprightness. It is colloquially a personal choice to hold oneself to consistent moral and ethical standards."

I just do not see in that definition anything that says "envy, jealousy, gossip, back stabbing, egotistical, or manipulative." Now I may be wrong, but this is what I see with every person shooting off their mouths with regard to GM George Dillman.

AND those of you who do this are PATHETIC!

Over the years I have met MANY martial artists, masters, grand masters who did not impress me. But not ONE TIME have I violated my code and talked about them. It is one thing to discuss or disagree with them. it is another thing to run off at the mouth and SLANDER/DEFAME them. There has been a witch hunt for George Dillman for decades now. ENOUGH PEOPLE! Time to act like adults!

However in the western world today this is just the path people now take. A path that will bring an end to the western civilization, and it will END SOON if this does not stop!

The First Time I met GM George Dillman

With Steve Stewart. George Dillman and Louise St Jacques

I first met George Dillman at a training camp in London Ontario back in I believe 2001. He was doing a seminar at Steve Stewart's Modern Martial Arts. This was an all day event and it hooked me into wishing to learn more about the science of pressure point self defense Kyusho Jitsu.

Meeting GM Dillman the first time I found him to be somewhat distant.

Then as I began to see the childish, jealous behavior of many in the martial arts community I began to understand why.

At this seminar he taught us things i could take back and make work the next day. Many seminars over the years I have attended were designed simply to sell products. George Dillman taught, and he is the REAL DEAL as GM Steve Stewart, my Kyusho teacher puts it!

Over the years as I began to know the man more, the more I liked him as a caring, genuine person. A man with great knowledge, that not all are able to learn and use.

However your shortcomings as a martial artist do not give you the right to slander anyone else. I am not writing this to defend George, he does not need my help, but instead to point out the TERRIBLE behavior of my own industry!  There is a long history of Dillman with Chris Thomas and they even attack Chris Thomas for this. Pathetic!

One night while driving home from teaching I had a call from a man claiming to be part of Seiyu Oyata's group. He was busy telling me that GM Dillman had no right to be teaching Kyusho, and had also ever met Hohan Soken. It was a short conversation as I told him his opinion were of no value to me, and it was perhaps time for him to grow up. I never heard from him again.

National Geography - Their Pathetic Attack on George Dillman

The "report" National Geographic did on GM George Dillman was appalling. It was a one sided attempt to discredit someone and damage them. And for NO reason! But that is the way things are today. Don't like someone, try to destroy them. Then cry like a 4 year when it happens to you. They not only attack Dillman in this but also Grand Master Leon Jay of small Circle Jujitsu.

Then they did a "report" on real vampires and why these people need to drink human blood. They slander one person, then enable those with a SERIOUS mental illness!

National Geographic is just another MAIN STREAM TABLOID. No different than CNN, BBC or CBC! All NO watch stations for me. I would not watch their channel or consume their product for ANY REASON. They have NO INTEGRITY

George Dillman in Conclusion

Kyusho Article CONCLUSION

Love George Dillman or hate him, your opinion is yours and you are entitled to it! You however you are NOT entitled to slander or defame someone.

AND THIS IS LAWSlander and defamation are not FREE speech and NEVER HAVE BEEN.

It is time to lose the EGOS and put the VALUES of Integrity, self control and honesty BACK into the martial arts. And POLITICS IS NOT A VALUE. You cannot fix the industry nor can I! However I can be responsible for my behavior and teach my students to be responsible also. I have on many occasion fired student over childish behavior like I am talking about. Here is a  link to a recent article called Bushido a Moral Education you may wish to contemplate before attacking someone.

I was asked recently why i am not a member of Dillman Karate International. The reason is simple. My years of working for anyone are long past. We can train together, and I am happy to learn as a pier. But I will not work for anyone, no matter how good. And on a final note one night at the Muhammad Ali Training Camp I sat with George Dillman and he told stories of Ali.

This was a wonderful time, and I am honoured to have been part of this.  Thank you GM George Dillman for your decades of contribution.

Martial Arts Pressure Points and Self Defense

Understand Martial Arts Pressure Points Self Defense

How do Martial Arts Pressure Points and Self Defense really work together? What is the relationship and do they need to be separated into 3 different topics?

Let's go into details today on how these 3 entities all work together, or how they should work together.

Martial Arts Pressure Points and Self Defense

Martial Arts World Today

Let's begin today at the martial arts part of the equation. When I began my martial arts journey in 1984 the sign on the Dojo I joined said "learn the art of self defense." Now this was true in one way, but also completely false in another.

The school I join was outstanding!  A combination of Hapkido and Tae Kwon Do, Hapkido being the self defense aspect.

However the school was very sport oriented and I honestly had a hard time relating what was taught to the street.

Being I was a former boxer also, I understood the sport aspect. But what was taught as self defense reached a "limit" in which I did not see any progression afterward.

Honestly it seemed like you were learning more to bar fight than deal with an attacker. And on a scale of 1 to 10 a bar fight is maybe, maybe a 4. Your life is really for the most part not in danger.

Then in the winter of I believe it was 1994 I met a man bent on harm. He was big, mentally disturbed, and dangerous. And I also knew I could not handle him! It came out OK because I did escape the situation and reported the man to police where they returned him to the PSYCH ward he escaped from.

This was a turning point for me, I began to search for real answers to the street Self Defense Question. It lead me to Martial Arts Pressure Points.

Martial Arts Pressure Points - Pressure Points

Martial arts Pressure Points on the Body

My search led me to look into several different martial arts. These were all life changing as one thing led to another. One of the most important discoveries where the Natural Laws and the Octagon.

This knowledge allowed for being safe, avoiding being hit or stabbed. And most importantly ESCAPE. But I also knew I need to improve my ability to strike. Because power is not enough! It never has been. If it was then MMA fights would end in seconds, not rounds.

The one day I received a seminar invitation from Grand Master Steve Stewart in London Ontario. He was having Grand Master George Dillman in and wanted to let me know. I went and took a few of my senior students to the event.

I was blown away. Not because of "knockouts" or anything like that. What I learned there I could take home to my dojo and actually use! Plus it worked on my toughest Uki's. I was HOOKED. Martial Arts Pressure Points go together like a hand and a glove. No OJ pun intended.

I pursued Kyusho Jitsu as a passion. Then thanks to the amazing teaching and personal attention of GM Stewart I became the most qualified person to teach Kyusho in Canada, other then GM Stewart naturally!

The rest is history.

Martial Arts Pressure Points and Self Defense - Self Defense

From this point I began serious work on creating a self defense system within my school, that I could teach with confidence and KNOW I was improving someone's chances of "surviving the threat" of today's ever changing streets.

Self Defense for Knife Attacks

This led me to my certification as not only a Child's Safety Expert and Women's Self Defense instructor under the WBA, but most importantly a Level III Instructor in Humane Pressure Point Tactics from GM Stewart.

H.P.P.T a set of courses I have since updated for today's very violent streets! You can learn more about these course below.

Martial Arts Pressure Points have a long history, even if many today wish to pretend they do not work or do not exist. If you cannot get pressure points to work that is on you, not pressure points.

Martial Arts Pressure Points in Conclusion

Kyusho Article CONCLUSION

What is being taught today in the martial arts world is not designed for street self defense. And there is nothing wrong with that! Unless the instructor is misinforming people.

What kind of martial art are you involved in? Do you train for self defense? How about Martial Arts Pressure Points and self defense?

Which Pressure Points Make you Faint? How is this possible?

* * Which Pressure Points Make you Faint?

Which Pressure Points Make you Faint? I saw this question the other day in a search that gave Quora as the source.

And I did not answer which Pressure Points Make you Faint on Quora, because I am not of a fan of the website. There are too many big ego there who are trying to impress people with how intelligent they are. Sorry not interested.

But the question:  Which Pressure Points Make You Faint?  Or in other words which pressure points to knock someone out ? This is an excellent question! So lets discuss this one today!

Which Pressure Points Make You Faint?

There are dozens of pressure points on the body that can cause a faint. But we also should define the word faint.

Faint: pass out from weakness, physical or emotional distress due to a loss of blood supply to the brain. Drop in blood pressure. This is also referred to as a Vasovagal syncope.

There are several pressure points on the body, due to their proximity will cause a serious drop in blood pressure result in a "vasovagal syncope."

But this is only one type of "knockout" practiced in the science of pressure point self defense called Kyusho Jitsu. And can be viewed under the topic of Which Pressure Points Make you Faint?

Pressure Points to Knock Someone Out

The prime examples of pressure points that will cause "vasovagal syncope" are ST-09, and ST-10 to name just two.

This is caused by an overreaction of stimulation of the Vagus Nerve, which is also called the "Heart Nerve."

To answer the question at this point one such pressure point that will result in a faint is a strike to Pressure Point ST-09.

ST-09 lies in the Carotid sinus, and when struck the reaction of the Vagus nerve to the brain is an increase in blood pressure.

Therefore this results in an instant drop in blood pressure and the resulting "faint."

And is referred to as the Carotid sinus reflex."

Vagus Nerve Which Pressure Points Make you Faint? Why?

You can read more about ST-09 from by book Kyusho Pressure Point Anatomy by clicking the button below.

Which Pressure Points Make you Faint?

Now these types of pressure point knockouts tend to be very dangerous for many different reasons. This ranges from the drop in blood pressure to nervous system overload that causes the brain to shutdown to protect the body. They can have serious consequences up to including death.

Another type of knockout, can also be referred to as Brain Dysfunction. The person may not go fully unconscious, however they will not be able to function "normally."  Plus the extent of the effect or reaction depends on many different circumstances. Many of these are discussed in my book Understanding Neurological Pressure Point Knockouts. There you can learn more about Which Pressure Points Make you Faint.

Which Pressure Points Make you Faint? What is a "knockout?"

There are 3 different types of knockouts and their causes. But the root cause, no matter what the cause all end up being neurological events. Here is a breakdown of the 3 basic types,

  1. A concussion can be caused by heavy impact to the skull such as a martial arts strike, a fall, car accident, etc. However trauma does not always cause unconsciousness, but when it does it is a neurological event. Therefore these are very dangerous and can result in death.
  2. Next on the list is the neurological knockout. A neurological knockout is caused by a short circuit, overload, or imbalance in the central nervous system, involving both the parasympathetic and sympathetic nervous systems. Therefore this can be done using Kyusho Jitsu techniques.

And these may also be caused by extreme stress, emotions, shock, or extreme trauma to any area of the body. [A broken bone or crushed limb for example]. Neurological knockouts also occur due to excessive use of drugs or alcohol. What is often called "fainting" is also a purely neurological event. As an example someone may faint at the sight of a needle. Since some do not believe that pressure point knockouts are real does this mean the person fainting is not real also? Using the correct Pressure Points Make you Faint.
  3. Then we have cardio/respiratory. This type of knockout is caused by limiting the oxygen supply to the brain. Therefore this can be caused by choking or strangulation involving the air supply, the flow of blood or both. These can also be caused by impact to veins or arteries. Which cause a disruption in the flow of blood,  possibly dislodging plaque from the arterial walls causing clots.

The question today with the term "fainting" refers to the 3rd type of knockout listed here. This is also part of the Dim Mak systems of training.

Below is a short video example of the 2nd example from above of when Pressure Points Make you Faint.

Kyusho Article CONCLUSION

In Conclusion

Today I am only touching on one pressure point that when activated will cause a "faint."

This is a very in depth topic, and therefore a complete answer requires several chapters of a book.

One of the questions I get on this topic is about "how to pass out on purpose with pressure points." You cannot knockout yourself out with a pressure point strike. The survival instinct kicks in long before you can do any real damage. I hope you enjoyed Which Pressure Points Make you Faint?

Painful Face Pressure Points. How to inflict unimaginable PAIN!

*Painful Face Pressure Points

Today I am going to talk about the Top 3 Most Painful Face Pressure Points.

Pain is a great deterrent! Understanding these 3 painful face pressure points can come in very handy in a bad situation!

So let's get started! There is a lot of information in this article..

Painful Face Pressure Points - Large Intestine 20

LI-20 Painful Face Pressure Points

This is a wonderful pressure point. Located beside the nose in a hollow when it is pushed / rubbed can cause intense pain! One of the reasons for this is that Large Intestine is the only meridian that crosses the body. Plus we are dealing with an area of dental nerves as well as sinus cavities. If you hold the back of the head at GB-20 the effect will intensify!

I have also successfully used this as a knockout point! See the video below. To activate push in and down!

Painful Face Pressure Points - Governor 26

GV-26 Painful Face Pressure Points

This is another GREAT painful face pressure point! Located right under the nose at center-line this is another RUB point. You can strike it, but if you seal the head like in the previous point, and rub side to side the pain is unbearable!

This is an excellent pressure point to use if you are on your back and have been mounted. The attack will fly off your because of the intense pain. And I have never encountered anyone who could withstand the pain!

Painful Face Pressure Points - Small Intestine 18

If you saw Steven Seagal's movie Under Siege 2 - Dark Territory this is the pressure point his niece attacked on one of the mercenaries.

Another point of intense pain mostly due to the proximity of the sinus cavities. With pollution today most people have sinus issues also.

SI-18 Most Painful Face Pressure Points

She does a good job of the grab, however you would support and seal using the left hand at the GB-20 area.  But it does do a decent job of demonstrating the pressure point!

Here is what my new eBook Kyusho Pressure Point Anatomy says about SI-18.

Small Intestine 18 [SI-18]:

This pressure point is located directly below the outer canthus, in the depression on the lower border of the zygoma, level with CO-20.

Best attacked with a small penetrating weapon like a single knuckle. This pressure point will cause a rush of energy to the brain causing a knockout.

Painful Face Pressure Points

So what is the advantage to understanding Painful Face Pressure Points? These are control points! This allows for the application of techniques, using these kinds of points, to control a BAD situation. One that has not yet turned to out and out violence.

Painful Face Pressure Points in Conclusion

Kyusho Article CONCLUSION

The more you know about each and every pressure point the better off you will be! Knowledge is not power, but applied knowledge is power. When you look at where you strike in your training, and then see what pressure points are available to you the more success you will have.

Thank you for taking time to read Painful Face Pressure Points.

Painful Arm Pressure Points for Effective and Disabling Self Defense

Most Painful Arm Pressure Points

What are the Top 3 MOST Painful Arm Pressure Points? The arms are critical in self defense because this is what the attacker brings forward first! Therefore a solid understanding of the most effective and painful Pressure Points of the arms is a must!

When I say effective pressure points I am referring to the ones that work on the MAJORITY of people tested. When I say "painful" I am referring to a result from pain that does not allow the fight to continue. Nothing in self defense can be guaranteed. There are no guarantees in life.

Painful Arm Pressure Points - LI-10

Painful Arm Pressure Points

This is an outstanding pressure point, located on the upper part of the forearm near the elbow. This is a STRIKE point, however you can also "press" on it, but I personally do not recommend that in a self defense situation.

This Pressure Point is struck straight through like an arrow.  Note the "through!" You hit this point HARD, striking through  towards the ground.  There is no "light touch" for pressure points. Always remember light is for training and therefore not hurting your partner. The streets are DIFFERENT!

When this point is hit hard there is intense pain, and the hand will open slowly as the pain shoots towards it. The entire arm will go numb from the elbow to the hand. Any weapon will be DROPPED. The effect can last 10 to 20 minutes depending on how hard and clean the hit is. But always assume a short recovery time!

Develop your skill with all these 3 Painful Arm Pressure Points.

LI-10:

One of the most popular and easiest to access pressure points on the body LI-10. Located 2 cun below LI-11, on the radial aspect of the radius, in the extensor carpi radialis brevis and longus muscles.

This pressure point can have a huge effect on the body. A strike straight down and through will paralyze the arm, and in some cases can potentially stop the heart.

Striking upward causes a shock wave to rise up the arm into the upper body. Will cause knock out if struck hard enough. When used with ST 9 has the potential for begin a deathblow!

This pressure point will affect the entire Large Intestine Meridian, especially around the arm, neck and face, hence the fact that ST 9 works really well with this pressure point. Again, when struck slightly upwards, the lower body will lose Chi and cause nausea. I have personally seen instances of diarrhea that can last for many days of untreated. Here is an article on Pressure Point LI-10 with more information. The first of my Painful Arm Pressure Points list.

Painful Arm Pressure Points - LU-06

LU-06 Painful Arm Pressure Points

This is another very effective pressure point located on the inside of the arm halfway between the elbow and hand on the thumb side.  This point, located mid radial bone works on everyone I have ever tried it one. This is why it is such an effective pressure point.

Striking all pressure points and getting a good results means you need to be using 2 Way Action. Below is a short video demonstrating both Lung 6 and 2 Way action.

Also note, the tighter the grip, the more painful the result! There is also something else very interesting about this pressure point. If the attacker has any chronic lung issues, striking this point will cause them to cough. Therefore telling you more about them and potential attack points. Learn these Painful Arm Pressure Points!

Reference - Kyusho Pressure Point Anatomy

LU-06:

This Pressure Point is located on the palmar aspect of the forearm, on the line joining LU 9 to LU 5, 7 cun above LU 9. The point is in the brachioradialis muscle, in the lateral margin at the upper extremity of the pronator teres muscle and the medial margin of the extensor carpi radialis brevis and longus muscles.

When struck hard the arm will immediately begin to go numb down towards the hand. The hand will also open slowly if the fist was closed. The tighter the fist is held the more pain associated with the strike.

Chest pain is also common. Striking too hard, too often can also cause sever breathing distress which can lead to death. This Pressure Point like LU-05 can also be used for Lung resuscitation. And other excellent and very Painful Arm Pressure Points.

Painful Arm Pressure Points - TW-11

TW-11 Painful Arm Pressure Points

This is the last of the 3 most effective pressure points of the arms and it is one of my favorites. This point also works on everyone I have ever tried it on! I also had the occasion many, many years ago to use it in self defense. This was an incident in 2007 in Caracas Venezuela at the airport. The result was a fleeing attacker with a dislocation of the elbow.

Now this pressure point is located just above the elbow joint at the tendon.  The best result will come when the hand is twist so the palm is in the same direction as the elbow, exposing the point more clearly. However a hard strike will compensate for the hand position. Striking or rubbing this point will cause the elbow to release making dislocation easy. When it comes to Painful Arm Pressure Points this one is a king.

Reference - Kyusho Pressure Point Anatomy

TW-11

Located 1 cun above TW-10. This pressure point weakens the elbow joint itself making it very easy to break or dislocate the elbow. Basically, stimulation releases the joint.

This is an excellent point to stimulate in any self defense techniques in which the arm is straight. This is one of my personal favorite pressure points. Here is an article with more information on Pressure Point TW-11.

Painful Arm Pressure Points in Conclusion

Kyusho Article CONCLUSION

There are literally a hundred pressure points on the body that can cause intense pain when attacked. And these Painful Arm Pressure Points are very important to learn.

However not all are very accessible, which in self defense is a BIG consideration. This is why I chose these 3 to begin with.

Do you have any pressure points on the arms you really like to use? Thank you for read Painful Arm Pressure Points!

Dim Mak Vs Kyusho Jitsu is there any difference?

What is the difference Dim Mak Vs Kyusho Jitsu

Dim Mak Vs Kyusho Jitsu. There is much controversy in the martial arts world about the ancient art of Dim Mak, as well as the not so ancient science of Kyusho Jitsu. Today I am going to do a comparison of Dim Mak Vs Kyusho Jitsu. Expose the different between the 2 arts, if there is any and how each can be studied in details.

Black Belt Magazine has featured articles like this over the years, but Black Belt Mag is paid content. I don't get paid for this.

Dim Mak Vs Kyusho Jitsu

The legends of Dim Mak are countless! It traces deep into Traditional Chinese Medicine I have discussed in my book Dim Mak Vibrating Palm.  And right up to the 20th century as many people still believe today that Dim Mak was the cause of the death of martial arts legend Bruce Lee.  Dim Mak comes from Chinese Martial Arts. The term Vital Points is often used for Dim Mak Pressure Points.

Bruce Lee - Dim Mak vs Kyusho Jitsu

Now myself, I do not think Bruce Lee was killed by the "death touch" however he did have a lot of enemies, and his death is questionable at best.  Then of course after the totally unnecessary and ridiculous way in which his son Brandon died, more fuel was added to the fire.

*Dim Mak Vs Kyusho Jitsu

The term "Dim Mak" means to "press artery."  Dim Mak is a method in which to "attack" the vascular systems of the human body and obtain a predictable and often deadly result.

It does not mean "Death Touch" as tabloid publications who mock the martial arts, like Wikipedia, like to state.

And just try to update that information! You will not be allowed. They love to mock and spread misinformation.  I have tried and failed many times.

Dim Mak Vs Kyusho Jitsu

Dim Mak originates or began in the ancient art of Taijiquan, which lead to the modern day exercise art of Tai Chi. Now today these terms have lost their meaning, however in ancient times Taijiquan was a deadly martial art! Today people tend to think they are the same thing. Which they are NOT.

Dim Mak uses the pressure point systems and meridian systems of the human body to attack the vascular systems. Pressure Points are used as almost a "portal" for vibrating energy strikes to enter the body.  There are hand positions which intensify the ability to strike, and help to transfer Ki or Chi into the attacker. These are called Ji Hands.

Not all pressure points work for this purpose. Therefore not all pressure points are considered to be Dim Mak points. Pressure Point like Stomach 9 are because of their proximity to a major artery.

You can learn more about ST-09 by clicking the button below.

The over simplified explanation for how this works is that a strike is made which damages the vascular system in the local vicinity attacked and damage will occur after a time period. Depending on the area this can be immediate damage of damage that occurs later. An example of this is causing an aneurysm. Which would result in death anywhere from hours, to days, to weeks later.

Dim Mak Vs Kyusho Jitsu - Kyusho

Now we will take a look at what I call the "science of pressure point self defense." The main idea behind Kyusho Jitsu is not the attack of the vascular system but rather the neurological systems of the human body.

Nervous System -Dim Mak Vs Kyusho Jitsu

The idea with a Kyusho Jitsu strike is to attack a nerve at a vulnerable place, which is a pressure point and therefore cause a dysfunction of the brain, or the area of the body attacked.

This dysfunction can be anything from a numbness in the limb, to intense local pain. And unconsciousness due to an overload of the system. AKA Kyusho Knockout

And a Kyusho Jitsu Pressure Point strikes can cause death. This is depending on the area of the body and the impact of the strike.

Both Kyusho Jitsu and Dim Mak are complex studies requiring time, dedication and hard work. There are no instant results with either system or art. However with work many amazing results are possible and predictable. Dim Mak Vs Kyusho Jitsu is a facinating subject!

Dim Mak Vs Kyusho Jitsu

As you can see from the information above the major difference between these 2 arts.  However in its purest form Dim Mak covered the neurological aspects also. But it is not easy to find a complete "Dim Mak" art in today's world as much has been bleed out, no pun intended.

Understanding Dim Mak Vs Kyusho Jitsu

And as I stated, both arts require a lot of dedicated work and training! However the results are worth it! One of the areas that must be covered in great detail is the pressure point system of the body

And I have cover this in details in my new book Kyusho Pressure Point Anatomy, the Gray's Anatomy of Kyusho Jitsu. Plus you can take a look at a modern "interpretation" of Dim Mak also from here

Dim Mak Vs Kyusho Jitsu in Conclusion

Kyusho Article CONCLUSION

Do you believe that "delayed death"  is possible?

Was this the cause of Bruce Lee's passing or do you accept "death by misadventure" which was the final result? Thank ou for taking time to read Dim Mak Vs Kyusho Jitsu.

How Kyusho Jitsu Stances. What is the different from traditional?

Kyusho Jitsu stances

Kyusho Jitsu Stances: In the martial arts world in my opinion stances are among the most misunderstood of "techniques."  I use the word techniques because I really cannot decide on a word for description!  Perhaps that comes from trying to learn another language. But today I want to address Kyusho Jitsu Stances and their place in the science of pressure point self defense.

Kyusho Jitsu Stances - Misunderstanding

I will often here martial arts instructors tell their students to get into their stance. And that is OK, as long as the student comes to understand that in self defense a stance is never "taken." As a training point this is fine, but the relationship to self defense is different.

When you look at a self defense situation there are 2 very important aspect of the defender to understand. That is:

  1. Mobility
  2. Stability

The Kyusho Jitsu stance is obviously the "stability" aspect of the situation. However the confusion comes because of the way we train.  A stance is a transition point, not a place where you remain!

If I was going to compare it to music, the stance is pause between notes.  When you "take" a stance you cripple your movement, slowing yourself down and forcing a power versus power confrontation. Instead we move through stances taking advantage of a level point, then continuing to control or strike as needed.

Kyusho Jitsu Stances - Kyusho Aspect

Kyusho Jitsu Stances Work

Note: The deeper the Kyusho Jitsu Stance the greater the element effect!

Now from a Kyusho Jitsu aspect, the Kyusho Jitsu Stances also relate directly to an element of the body. However once again in order to get the proper affect, it becomes a dance between mobility and stability!

If you have ever seen my oldest son move you will know how he has mastered this aspect of training! But on the Kyusho Jitsu Stances. Here is a breakdown.

  • Forward Bo [Walking Stance] - Fire element
  • Neutral Bo - Fire element
  • 45 Degree Cat Stance - Metal element
  • Horse Stance Toes Out - Wood
  • Horse Stance Toes Forward - Earth element
  • X Stance, Crane, Crossover etc - Water element

Kyusho Jitsu Stances in Conclusion

Kyusho Jitsu Stances Work CONCLUSION

This is the basic breakdown based on the traditional stances! This applies to all stances across all arts.

If you are curious about a particular stance and its element that is not listed feel free to contact me!

3 Crippling Leg Pressure Points. How to take the legs

Crippling Leg Pressure Points

Today we will talk about the Top 3 Crippling Leg Pressure Points for self defense you need to know! There is an old saying, that when in doubt attack the legs!

But what is the most effective way?

3 Crippling Leg Pressure Points

The bigger the attacker the most fragile the legs. Therefore knowing the Crippling Leg Pressure Points is a must!

Legs do a lot of work as I am sure you realize. But when someone is BIG they work beyond what they should. Today there is an epidemic of obesity in the world. Especially in men.

But that does not stop them from wanting to fight, or be a criminal! And you must understand your attacker, and what his weaknesses are! That is part of the study of the science of pressure point self defense.

Crippling Leg Pressure Points - Let's Attack the Knees!

Crippling Leg Pressure Points

This is the usual train of thought in the martial arts. And yes the knees are a weak area, especially on heavy people.

There is a cluster of 4 pressure points around the knees that make great targets! I discuss these in DEPTH in the Novice Kyusho Jitsu Home Study Course!

But today we will bypass the knees and go for PAIN!

Crippling Leg Pressure Points

Let begin with the first of 3 leg pressure points with GB-31!

3 Crippling Leg Pressure Points GB-31

1) Gall Bladder 31- This point is located as you can see on thigh, midway down on the Yang side. It is hit straight in like an arrow! The knee makes a GREAT weapon against it too! What happens? The leg will CRAMP. If you strike it hard enough when the leg cramps the quadriceps will cramp so badly they will TEAR.

This pressure point is also often called the Charlie Horse Point. You can read a full article on the pressure point Gall Bladder 31 here.

You cannot walk let alone continue to fight under these circumstances!

2) Bladder 56 - As you can see from the diagram this on of the leg pressure points that lies mid calf.

Here is Bladder 56 3 Crippling Leg Pressure Points

Striking this point, like GB-31 will cause an INTENSE calf cramp. I accidentally hit this point once too hard on my Uki and he ended up with a muscle tear. I know you are getting the idea! The best weapon for this is the heal of your foot! If you have heave boots on you will get an even better result! You can also use BL-57 or BL-58. But I have found BL-56 the most effective.

If you can't walk....can't fight! The power of Crippling Leg Pressure Points.

3) Spleen 11 - I have talked about SP-11 many times! Located mid upper thigh on the inside this is perhaps the BEST of all leg points. I know people expect me to go with SP-6, which is a great point! Most of all it is a setup point.

But today I want PAIN!

Because of where the point is located it can cause a neurological knockout if you hit is hard enough. The attack is straight in like an arrow. The knee is a great weapon and so is a front kick! If you want to know HOW it can cause an knockout read 5 Best Knockout Pressure Points Here.

Spleen Meridian Leg

There is also a very good possibly with a hard strike of cracking or breaking the femur bone in the upper leg. As I said before, this ends the altercation.  Here is a full article on SP-11 too! As you can see how important it is to learn the Crippling Leg Pressure Points.

Crippling Leg Pressure Points in Conclusion

Kyusho Article CONCLUSION

The legs are one of the very best places to attack in self defense. And there are many more amazing pressure points other then these 3.

I chose these 3 because they work on 99% of the people I have tested on! Thank you for reading Crippling Leg Pressure Points!

Also they are not difficult to use! Therefore the reason for me choosing these. If you would like to discover more pressure points on the legs, or other areas of the body then you need to look at my new eBook Kyusho Pressure Point Anatomy!

So what so you think? Do you have any other pressure points you prefer? Leave a comment below and let me know about them! [Click Here to Comment]
