Kyusho Extraordinary Pressure Points. What are these really?

The Kyusho Extraordinary Pressure Points

What are Kyusho Extraordinary Pressure Points? Before I go into some details here first let's lay the ground work in case all of this science of pressure point self defense is new to you.

First I will define what a pressure point is. A pressure point is a place on the body where a nerve comes to an end, where nerves cross over each other, and where a nerve branches off.

There are 309 standard pressure points on the human body, plus 52 more points on the "vessels" which brings the total to 361. Now this is ONLY looking at one side of body however with reference to the meridian pressure points.

These pressure points have specific characteristics that are associated to the meridian they lie upon, the element of the meridian.

And the polarity of the related organ of the body. Here is a link to an article on Pressure Point Basics which will help you if you need more information!

What are Kyusho Extraordinary Pressure Points?

These are essentially pressure points that were discovered after the mapping of the original 361. They are found in many different places on the body. These Kyusho Extraordinary Pressure Points also have no direct relationship to any meridians or elements.

Mue-28 -Kyusho Extraordinary Pressure Points

In this bad editing job I did here on this picture I give you Kyusho Extraordinary Pressure Points MUE-28. The pressure point is located in very close proximity to the Heart Meridian and therefore in the case will take on the characteristics of the Heart Meridian.

When struck across the arm, with 2 way action it releases the wrist.

The use of Kyusho Extraordinary Pressure Points does vary from point to point. Plus not all of them have any real application in Kyusho Jitsu. That being said I will give you a breakdown of some of the more useful ones.

And I should warn you, this is not novice material!

Extraordinary Pressure Points Summary

  • They have no relationship to Yin or Yang.
  • Have no underlying relationship with each other.
  • "Tend” to take on the characteristics of the closest meridian, but now always.
  • May run over-top of another meridian
  • Also help to coordinate the balance of Chi and Blood
  • May run over-top of another meridian
  • Assist in the functions of the regular meridians

However understanding their existence, and their basic use is important.

Kyusho Extraordinary Pressure Points in Conclusion

Kyusho Article CONCLUSION

Extraordinary Pressure Points have a very important function in Dim Mak because they upset the natural blood and energy balances of the body.

Keeping all of this kind of information in balance, able to reference is a difficult task. There are a lot of other very "special pressure points" each with very important and different affects on the body.

Have you had an experience with extraordinary pressure points? Do you have any questions? Thank you for taking time to read this article on Kyusho Extraordinary Pressure Points.

Pressure Point Stomach 9-10. Now to initiates a Vasodilatation.

The Pressure Point Stomach 9-10

Pressure Point Stomach 9-10: Updated May 9th 2020.

As we approach the end of this series on various pressure points of the body I encourage you to head over to my Kyusho eBook website and grab a copy of Kyusho Pressure Point Anatomy so that you have this kind of detailed information on every pressure point on the body.

So today I conclude with Pressure Point Stomach 9-10, one of the most dangerous pressure points (2) on the body.

Onward!

The Pressure Point Stomach 9-10

Pressure Point Stomach
9-10 - Location

The primary focus of this article is on ST-09. This is because this is arguably the most dangerous of the 2 pressure points. It is however almost impossible to strike one without hitting the other. And they both react pretty much the same.

Pressure Point ST-09 is situated right over the carotid sinus. The carotid sinus is a Baroreceptor, whose purpose is to detect an increase in blood pressure. When it detects an increase, it sends a signal to the vasomotor center of the via the vagus nerve. This initiates a Vasodilatation, and slowing of the heart rate to lower the blood pressure to normal.

Here is an excerpt from my book Kyusho Pressure Point Anatomy on ST-09

Pressure Point Stomach 9-10 - Affects

When either or both of these pressure points are struck there is an immediate, violent and dangerous response from the brain. The blood pressure will drop quickly causing a "vascular faint" or knockout. This can be accomplished with a low to medium strike.

A harder strike can cause serious damage to the nervous and arterial systems of the area which will result in death.  Pressure Points Stomach 9-10 are also Dim Mak points because an energy strike to this part of the system, both nervous and vascular, will cause enough "dysfunction" to result in death overtime.

Pressure Point ST-10 - Location

ST-10 which is considered just as dangerous a pressure point as ST-09 is located at the anterior border of the Sternocleidomastoid Muscle midway between ST-09 and ST-11.

The Sternocleidomastoideus Muscle

Detailed Video on how ST-09 and ST-10 Work!

In Conclusion

Kyusho Article CONCLUSION

The dangers of these 2 Pressure Points CANNOT be overstated. NEVER strike these in training! They are only for life and death street situations.

With Kyusho Jitsu Training must come responsibility! Now that you are aware of the consequences of striking these 2 pressure points realize that misuse is negligence!

Are there any other dangerous martial arts pressure points you are curious about? I have added a related article to this one called Unveiling the Most Formidable Pressure Point. Follow the link to read!

Extraordinary Pressure Points M-Hn-9. Why so painful?

The Extraordinary Pressure Points M-Hn-9

Pain is a wonderful thing when it comes to self defense and Extraordinary Pressure Points M-Hn-9 is one of the excruciatingly painful pressure points when attacked correctly.

So today let's as a bonus take a look at this little gem of a pressure point. The first thing I will address before we move on is what an Extraordinary Pressure Point is.

After the original 361 pressure points were mapped others were discovered. These pressure points, which are nerve ends, do not lie on a meridian. However they do "tend" to take on the characteristics of the meridian they are closest to.

As an example MU-E-28 which is on the Ulna bone takes on the characteristics of the Heart Meridian.

Extraordinary Pressure Points M-Hn-9 - Location & Affect

As you can see in the image above Extraordinary Pressure Points M-Hn-9 is located on the face, approximately one thumb nail above LI-20. This lies very close to a cavity in the skull, which you can feel with your fingers on your own face.

The Facial Nerves

At this area there is a facial nerve that branches into a "Y". The pressure point is attack by pushing in, and rubbing towards the outside.

This causes an acceleration in energy and immense pain.  If you seal the back of the head with the other hand this intensify the pain!

The head with rotate in the direction of the pressure of the rub allowing for control of the attacker. You would strike the Extraordinary Pressure Points M-Hn-9 in the same direction.

In Conclusion

Kyusho Article CONCLUSION

Extraordinary Pressure Point are fascinating. These pressure points were mapped after the original set of 361.

There is much question about the exact numbers of Extraordinary Pressure Points, however there are a handful that are excellent for usage in Kyusho Jitsu training.

If you have a questions there is a form you can fill out below. Thank you for taking time to read this article, Extraordinary Pressure Points M-Hn-9.

Kyusho Pressure Point Anatomy

Like becoming a doctor, to truly advance in the science of pressure point self defense you need to study the human body. The more information you can digest the better! After I achieved my Master Level in Kyusho Jitsu I picked up a copy of Grey's Anatomy at Dr Steve Stewart's suggest to advance my knowledge.

I then realized the need for a very comprehensive book of pressure points for the Kyusho Jitsu student, rather then the acupuncture student. Thus Kyusho Pressure Point Anatomy was born! And it included information on Extraordinary Pressure Points M-Hn-9 and all the others.

Pressure Point Liver 14 Learn Pressure Point Fighting NOW

The Pressure Point Liver 14

Today we will take a look at a pressure point of incredible importance, but it very often overlooked. That is Pressure Point Liver 14 [LV-14]. And it is one of server dangerous Live Pressure Points.  Below are some excerpts from my eBook released on January 15th 2019 called Kyusho Pressure Point Anatomy.

Please note this is a very dangerous pressure point and should not be played with.

Pressure Point Liver 14 - Location

LV-14 is located on the mamillary line, 2 ribs below the nipple, in the 6th intercostal space. This point is 6 cun above the navel & 3.5 cun lateral to GV-14, near the medial end of the 6th intercostal space.

Pressure Point Liver 14 - Caution

This is a very important pressure point because it can have many different dangerous effects. A solid strike on the left side can cause the heart to stop. The lungs can also collapse from a strong hit.

A knockout can also occur from a medium strike, as well as temporary vision issues. Not to mention serious liver damage occurring instantly and, in the future, if untreated.

LV-14 is also an Alarm Point which means it has a direct relationship with the organ itself Each organ on the body has 2 special points associated with them.

The Intercostal Space

These pressure points are not necessarily on the meridian associated with the organ either. These names of these special pressure points is Alarm Points and Associated Alarm Points.

The Associated Alarm Points

Associated Alarm Point relate directly to the neurological aspect of the organ they represent. All Associated Alarm Points are located on the Bladder Meridian on the right side of the body.

How Alarm Points function and their importance is covered in depth in my advanced Kyusho Jitsu Home Study Courses. Beginning at Kyusho 2nd Dan Black Belt. However I do have some workshop footage of Alarm Points found at this LINK. Plus these are covered in great details in the Kyusho Master's Series eBook/Video set.

In Conclusion

Kyusho Article CONCLUSION

From this article you can get a general idea of just how important Pressure Point Liver 14 actually is, especially because it is an Alarm Point.

And it is a very important pressure point in the study of Dim Mak.

Pressure Point GB-31. What is the Charlie Horse Point?

Pressure Point GB-31 [Gall Bladder]

Today I will continue on our weekly discussion of Pressure Points with one of the most underrated, Pressure Point GB-31 [Gall Bladder].

Even many people who have never studied the science of Pressure Point Self Defense called Kyusho Jitsu will have a relationship with the pressure point.

It is sometimes referred to as the Charley-Horse point on the leg. I know in high school we all love to knee someone here!

And the results are cripplingly painful!

The Pressure Point GB-31

Pressure Point GB-31 [Gall Bladder] - Location

The Popliteal Artery

The Pressure Point GB-31 is located on the mid-line of the lateral aspect of the thigh, 7 cun above the transverse Popliteal Artery "crease." When a person is standing erect with hands by their sides, the pressure point is located where the tip of the middle finger touches the leg.

Pressure Point GB-31 - the effect

When the pressure point is struck, usually with a blunt object like the knee the entire leg will go "dead." The pain is "off the charts" and the attacker will be unable to walk. A knockout is possible because a solid strike can break the femur and therefore cause serious injury including death do to potential internal bleeding. This is not probable however due to the curvature of the leg at this point.

And using a small tool such as the heal or a big toe, placed dead on the pressure point can cause heart issues. The reason is the swelling inside the leg, cause circulation issues in the leg. However this is very unlikely.

Therefore it is not considered a dangerous pressure point, but a Painful Pressure Point

In Conclusion

Kyusho Article CONCLUSION

Now because of the almost guaranteed result when striking this pressure point it is a must for self defense training.

Therefore it is one you will want to learn and pay attention too!

Do you train using this pressure point? Are there others you also really like? Leave me a comment and let me know!

Pressure Point Stomach 5. Is this the best knockout point?

The Pressure Point Stomach 5

Article update May 10th 2020. I know this is the one many of you have been waiting for! A favorite of anyone interested in neurological knockouts, and that is Pressure Point Stomach 5 [ST-05]. Therefore today I am going to go into painful details on how ST-05 works, and why you should be using it!

[ST-05] Pressure Point Stomach 5

The pressure point is located anterior to the angle of the mandible, on the anterior border of the Masseter Muscle, in the groove like depression appearing when the cheek is bulged 0.5 cun anterior to ST 6. [Excepts from Kyusho Pressure Point Anatomy]

The effectiveness of this pressure point will depend on the proximity of the nerve. On some people it is very close to the surface and therefore any strike will have an affect. On others it is buried deeper and requires a much stronger hit to stimulate.

This is were the sayings "cast iron jaw" and "glass jaw" come from in the boxing world.

The Masseter muscle
Arteries of the Neck

One of the main reasons for the strong reaction by the brain to a strike at this nerve is the vast number of arteries in the area. Including the "jugular vein" under the jaw bone.

The Vagus Nerve branch also runs in this area. This is sometimes called the "heart" nerve.

These are the reasons the brain reacts as strongly as it does to protect these areas.

While this is not consider to be a "deadly" pressure point there can be a lot of damage done to the area with a solid strike. Therefore caution is advised when using this pressure point for demonstrations. Most of all protect your Uki!

Knockout at Pressure Point Stomach 5

Below is a short video of a knockout I did a few years back at ST-05. Below I will explain.

The Jugular Vein

The video is a breakdown from a Korean ITF Taekwondo Kata called Dan Gun. Now we do not do the Kata in the traditional way as we are not a TKD school. The Kata calls for a back-fist, but I instead put the back-fist hand to his face and struck my hand.

This causes the energy to spread out giving a very nice result without the same risk of damage to the jaw. Now this is a demonstration method and you certainly would not consider the for the street.

In Conclusion

Kyusho Article CONCLUSION

Pressure Point Stomach 5 [ST-05] is an excellent target for self defense training. But in real life you would hit with all it is worth!

Pressure Point Pericardium 2. Does this affect the heart?

The Pressure Point Pericardium 6

Today, since this is the beginning of a new week, i will take a look at Pressure Point Pericardium 2 [PC-02].

First I will tell you straight out that Pressure Point Pericardium 2 is not one to be played with especially without direction from a QUALIFIED Kyusho Jitsu Instructor. Therefore this article is for information ONLY.

Deadly Pressure Point Pericardium 2 - Why?

The Pericardium of the Heart

Some of the information below is from the eBook
Kyusho Pressure Point Anatomy

To the left is an image of the Pericardium of the Heart.

The first place I will begin at the Pericardium. What is a pericardium? Very simply put this it the "sac' within the chest cavity that contains the heart. This is the reason why some Kyusho Jitsu / Dim Mak teachers will often call this meridian "Heart 2."

Pressure Point Pericardium 2 - Location

The Pressure Point Pericardium 2

Pressure Point Pericardium 2 - PC-02 is located 2 cun below the end of the anterior axillary fold, between the two heads of the biceps brachii muscle. Like PC-01 this is a very dangerous pressure point and cannot be take lightly.

Striking Pressure Point Pericardium 2 straight in will cause terrible pain and the person to drop to their knees. If they were exhaling at the time of the strike loss of breath often occurs.

A knockout can occur from striking this pressure point as a result of over stimulation of the radial nerve. Striking on the left arm is very dangerous, however either side can yield a very serious and strong result. The angle and direction of the strike is "straight in" like an arrow going through.

This is NOT a pressure point for demonstrations! Now I have personally used this Pressure Point Pericardium 2 in self defense training in my Dojo in Canada. And I must say I was even surprised at the extreme result with not that much of a strike.

Kyusho Article CONCLUSION

In Conclusion

Why is PC-02 - Pressure Point Pericardium 2 is one of the most deadly pressure points on the body?

This is because of its direct connection with the functioning of the heart via the nerves in the vicinity of the pressure point.

You can read below about one of the other MOST DEADLY Pressure Points on the Body ST-09 from the button below. This is an excerpt from my new book!

Warning!

Do not strike this, Pressure Point Pericardium 2 in practice! The result could be devastating. Always practice Kyusho under the direction of a qualified Kyusho instructor! And if you are learning via distance then ask questions to assure proper understanding before proceeding.

Below is a form you can use to ask any questions you may have about this pressure point or other related topics.

Painful Pressure Point Governor Vessel 26. Why so much pain?

The Pressure Point Governor Vessel

Pressure Point Governor Vessel 26: I love pressure points that lie in the upper 90 percentile for effectiveness and Pressure Point Governor Vessel 26 is one of them!

As I continue today on the series of effectiveness pressure points for use in self defense we will address GV-26.

And this is truly one of the MOST painful pressure points on the human body!  Here is a gernal information article link on Vessels.

Pressure Point Governor Vessel 26 - Location & Use

GV-26 is located on the inside of the upper lip, at the junction of the frenulum and the upper gum.

It is attacked by pressing in and down on the upper lip, with a 2-Way Action.  A vibrating side to side motion works best! Small motion while pressing in HARD. This is the best striking action for Pressure Point Governor Vessel 26

When you press and rub Pressure Point Governor Vessel 26 the pain is excruciating, however it is easy for the attacker to pull back.

This is why this pressure point is best sealed from the back of the head with the use of the left or right hand depending on the defense and situation.

If you can grab a hold of GB-20 on both side with the left hand then the pain will escalate dramatically.

Kyusho Jitsu World
Pressure Point Governor Vessel 26

This is a great defense if you are on your back with the attacker on top! To increase the effectiveness of this make sure you have one foot as flat on the ground as possible. Lift the shoulder of the arm you are using to attack Pressure Point Governor Vessel 26 - GV-26. Seal with the other hand at rub HARD

The pain is so intense the average person will dismount immediately and usually in a very violent motion to escape the pain. Others will pass out on top of you. I have experienced both effects on different partners. Plus I have never encountered a case with this pressure point that did not work. Therefore why I consider it to be an upper 90 percentile effective rate.

Kyusho Article CONCLUSION

In Conclusion

Pressure Point Governor Vessel 26 - GV-26 is an awesome pressure point to add to your self defense system. Pain is a great motivator and it also offer the opportunity for escape. Striking this pressure point in and down is also devastating!

Have you had the opportunity to work with this pressure point? Thank you for taking time to read this article on Pressure Point Governor Vessel 26:

All about Pressure Point TW-23 [Triple Warmer]

Pressure Point TW-23

Pressure Point TW-23

Today as I continue the series of different pressure points on the body i am going to checkout one on the head. This is a popular pressure point for knockouts.

However "CARE" really needs to be used here as the pressure point is "dangerous." This is Pressure Point TW-23 [Triple Warmer or Triple Heater as it is often called].

You can get FREE Pressure Point Charts by clicking HERE. This is a free offer with not strings.

So why wait?

Pressure Point TW-23 - Location

The location of Pressure Point TW-23 is in the depression at the lateral end of the eyebrow, on the lateral border of the Zygomatic process of the frontal bone, in the orbicularis oculi muscle.

A strike to the area can cause a break in the ocular bone and serious damage to the eye.

Pressure Point TW-23 - Effect

Pressure Point TW-23
The Bones of the Face

The ocular bones are the weakest bones in the body and therefore will break very easily. Hitting TW-23 with any kind of force will increase the weakness of the muscles in the area.

A knockout can result from a correct light strike in order to protect the eye, Hit downward towards the jaw.

Many years ago back in the early 90's I had a friend serious hurt due to a strike to the area of Pressure Point TW-23 during a no contact Tae Kwon Do tournament. He required many, many hours of reconstructive surgery. And he lost partial vision in the eye. He was not hit very hard either! This is why I always advise caution with the pressure point!

Therefore please use this pressure point with extreme caution!

I once did a knockout at TW-23 and student went out very easy, mostly because he had been used several times for knockouts during the evening. (This was at a Kyusho exam);

Kyusho Article CONCLUSION

In Conclusion

As you can see from all this information TW-23 is a very powerful pressure point.

But remember caution is needed with this one. Death is a possibility under the right conditions as well as permanent eye damage.

Is there a particular pressure point you would like to see featured? Leave me a comment and let me know. Thank you for reading about Pressure Point TW-23!

Pressure Point Pericardium 6. The Ultimate setup point!

The Pressure Point Pericardium 6

Once again today I am continuing the series of different, very important pressure points on the body. And today we have Pressure Point Pericardium 6! This is one of my personal favorites. That is mostly because my root art is Hapkido and therefore a hands on grappling system.

Pressure Point Pericardium 6 - Location

PC-06 is located 2 cun above the transverse crease of the wrist, between the tendons of the palmaris longus and flexor carpi radialis muscles, in the flexor digitorum superficialis manus muscle. In it's deep position in the flexor digitorum sublimis muscle. Below is a closer look.

Pressure Point Pericardium 6 - A Setup Pressure Point

PC-06 is primarily a setup pressure point. While not the easiest pressure point to strike when you do it causes disorientation and a general weakness of the entire body. It also has an important usage as what I call a "Kyusho Special Alarm Point" as pressing it will cause a weakness in the chest area.

It is also a very important pressure point in Dim Mak and the healing arts.  As an example of usage in a grab, if you press down on PC-06 and then strike GB-24 you are very likely going to get a knockout. This will depend on the force used in the GB-24 strike. If this does not cause a knockout the motion of the body from the strike will give you a clear shot at GB-20.

PC-06 is a pressure point you will want to study in more details and work into your self defense system! PC-06 is also a Confluent Pressure Point.

In Conclusion - Pressure Point Pericardium 6

You cannot image the power and influence this pressure point has until you use it.

Plus it does not require a strike to get a  result. Simply activating it with touch is sufficient!
