What is Kyusho Pressure Point EPS?

I have been remiss in my teaching for the science of pressure point self defense. My courses teach a lot of materials, including Kyusho Pressure Point EPS. But I forgot to breakdown exactly what E.P.S means.

Kyusho Pressure Point EPS - Novice E.P.S

Simply put at the Novice Level E.P.S stands for Element - Polarity - Striking Action. This term is linked directly to the study and attack of the meridians of the body.  Let's take a closer look shall we?

Novice E.P.S: The Element: 

Each meridian on the body is represented by one of the five elements. These are either fire, metal, wood, earth or water. When it then refers to Kyusho Pressure Point EPS we are considering the Cycle of Destruction. The cycle breaks down as follows:

The Kyusho 5 Element Theory
  • Fire melts Metal
  • Metal chops Wood
  • Wood penetrates Earth
  • Earth dams Water
  • Water Quenches Fire
  • So when you think about a meridian you ask yourself the question. "What is the element?"

    Which element is being used to attack which meridian within this cycle.

    Novice E.P.S:  The Polarity

    Understanding the Yin-Yang Symbol

    Each meridian and the organ represented has a specific polarity. They are either Yin or Yang. 

    On the human body there are 12 meridians total and 2 pairs of 6 with reference to Yin and Yang.

    Here is a breakdown of polarity

    Yin Meridians

    • Heart
    • Lung
    • Pericardium
    • Kidney
    • Liver
    • Spleen

    Yang Meridian

    • Large Intestine
    • Small Intestine
    • Triple Warmer
    • Bladder
    • Gall Bladder
    • Stomach

    Therefore when thinking about a meridian you would ask yourself "What polarity is this meridian?"

    Novice E.P.S: Striking Action

    Because of the above information each meridian also has a "best method" of attack! What is the correct striking action? These striking actions are slapping, vibrating, chopping, penetrating and grasping.

    Kyusho Jitsu Self Defense Tips

    As a full breakdown we have the following

    1. Fire - Slapping
    2. Metal - Vibrating
    3. Wood - Chopping
    4. Earth - Penetrating
    5. Water - Grasping

    This then causes the question. "What is the striking action for the meridian based on the element?"

    Well we can and do go a lot further with the idea of E.P.S than just the 3 in the Novice program. We can actually make this a large equation of questions.


    Yes that is correct at the advanced level we can use the above acronym! So why is this important? Because the brain works by asking questions. Therefore using acronyms like this are a big aid in teaching and successful learning!

    At the advanced level this is not always necessary. But it really does come in handy! So how about I break this entire acronym down for you. Remember this is all in reference to meridians.

    Kyusho Jitsu Factor - stance

    For the purposes of the article and advanced study I will now look at the second part which is S.S.C.T

    1) S - Stance. What is the correct stances to use in an attack based on the meridian element?

    2) S - Sound. What is the correct destructive sound to be used to attack the meridian element?

    3) C - Colour. What is the destructive colour for the meridian and its corresponding element?

    4) T - Time of Day. What is the correct time of day of activation in the 24 Hour Diurnal Cycle for the meridian in question?

    Please note that each of these principles above is linked to a detailed article explaining how it works. As of this writing I have not done one yet on striking actions, however I will soon.

    In Conclusion

    The reason for the entire idea of Kyusho Pressure Point EPS is to help with learning.

    The brain learns by association and that makes these kinds of acronyms very powerful. 

    And these tools greatly increase your odds of real success in the science of pressure point self defense.

    I has been a while since I did a post about the 15 Principles of Kyusho Jitsu. But today I am going to explain and give details on the 1st Principles Kyusho Attack Along Meridian [Attack along the meridian]

    The very basic idea behind this principle is to attack the meridian more than once. And as an example if you hit LU-01, in a perfect world you would then hit LU-11. But LU-11 is just not one of those pressure points that is very easy to attack. But you could have a thumb lock. However activation of the pressure point is not going to be optimal. But aside from that.

    Let's really get into this.

    Kyusho Attack Along Meridian - Beginner

    For the beginner the results you would be looking for is one that is "predictable". As an example if someone grabs your wrist and you strike LU-06 this will cause a release of the grip to your hand, as the attackers hand will open. The pain level they experience will vary with how tightly they were hold your hand. 

    Secondary reaction is the head coming forward and the front leg knee bending. Naturally this effect requires a decent strike using 2 Way Action. Below is a short video example of using this pressure point LU-06

    This effect can be further intensified if I was to strike LU-01 first. Now LU-01 is a VERY dangerous pressure point for several reasons. One of which is it an Alarm Point. However the example is all I am looking for here. 

    Plus if I hit LU-01 on the other side of the body, the effect will be even more intense!

    Kyusho Attack Along Meridian - Deeper Look

    The above examples are based on the beginner level and the idea of trying to cause pain or have a joint release. Pretty simple stuff.

    But a deep look would be to actually cause a prolonged effect in the meridian itself. When a meridian is activated it can remain so for up to 20 minutes depending on the severity of the strike. 

    Kyusho Pressure Point Activation

    Here is another example. This is not necessarily an example valid for street usage, just how the principle works. 

    You have a hold on the index finger. Stimulating Pressure Point LI-01 [Large Intestine]. Next to use a knuckle and strike into LI-20, which is the far end of the meridian. Following this will a strike to LI-10 will bring the Uki to their knees. The arm will become numb and it will be very difficult to open and close the hand.

    LI-20 Painful Face Pressure Points

    Attacking the 2 end pressure points on the meridian causes the energy to meet in the middle of the meridian. Then strike LI-10, which is the middle will yield a very strong result. This will also vary with the severity of the strikes to the various pressure points. And the resistance of the Uki. The more resistance the more pain/dysfunction. This effect can last up to 20 minutes. So in other works you can effectively take the attackers arm out of the equation for up to 20 minutes when this principle is used correctly!

    These are the basics of the principle of Kyusho Attack Along Meridian.

    When this principle is stacked with other Kyusho Jitsu Principles like the Cycle Of Destruction and/or the 24 Hour Diurnal Cycle then the effects become devastating!

    In the USA the right to bear arms is under serious attack, therefore so is the right to self defense! But this is a global issue also! And in reality this should be an unquestionable inalienable right everywhere. But alas it is NOT.

    You see, the governments do not want you to protect yourself. They want to protect you! Of course you have to give up rights like privacy to be protected! And you have been giving the right to privacy up on a daily basis for years now! No matter what the powers say. Things like the GDRP are prime example of this. And even the idea that I need a Privacy Policy here shows how much you are being watched. 

    How does a government protect you? More surveillance, restricted rights and movement. Now i am not saying these measures need to be abandoned. I am saying they are a result of ulterior motives and not just "security." And these were the stepping stones toward the complete regulation of your Right to Self Defense. And we cannot have this happen or lose this right!

    Right to Self Defense - Definition

    In order to fully understand how your right to self defense is in jeopardy you first need to get  a deep understanding of what self defense means. 

    "Self Defense or Self Defence is a countermeasure that involves defending the health and well-being of oneself from harm

    The use of the right of self-defense as a legal justification for the use of force in times of danger is available in many places in the world but not everywhere."

    Now from my research here the Right to Self Defense does not really exist in England. There is NO LAW I can find. It is purely up to the Judge in the court to decide. It falls under this catagory and ideal of "common law."

    And the way things are in England I think it is safe to assume you must prove your innocence, and not that they must prove your GUILT. Here is an article that discussed the idea that to defend yourself in England is ILLEGAL. And when i come to violence,  England is ON FIRE with knife crimes. In 2017 there were almost 40,000 offenses!

    Because of the BIG movement world wide to the radical left great attention needs to be paid to any existing laws of self defense and any changes made to them.

    Why is this? Because the left is about BIG government and this causes changes to be made to the system to justify it. 

    When the state gains power, the individual loses power. So let's now get down to what I am talking about!

    As a martial artists in any place in the world were you are allowed to protect yourself you can only use reasonable force. In Canada after the incident the police will decide if you meet the criteria by several investigate steps.

    These are as follows.

    1) Are there prior arrests for either party
    2) Are there ANY weapons involved
    3) Have injuries been sustained?
    4) What actions lead up to the incident?
    5) Is this domestic?
    6) do the parties know each other prior to the incident?

    As you can see this is not "black and white" but many shades of grey! What you think is "self defense" may in fact be viewed as a FIGHT and charges laid AGAINST YOU for assault!

    Right to Self Defense - Reasonable Force

    By law you can only use "reasonable force" to end ANY kind of attack. As stated in the video above. In order to accomplish this you must train to control your own emotional responses to the attack.

    And the fact you are a trained martial artist will come out in court! Do not be so naive as to think you can hide this! Because of this training you will be expected to tow the line exactly the same as a police officer would be! Here is a LINK that explains "Reasonable Force" by the Criminal Code of Canada.


    Bight Brothere Right to Self Defense

    Today "Big Brother" is watching! Everything we do today is seen by someone. This does have a few good aspects, but for 99% I am fully against this! However, at this point in time there is little to nothing you can do about it.

    People walk around day and night videoing everything they see. And this can work both for you and against you in a court of law. Therefore understanding the Laws for Self Defense where you live cannot be overstated. 

    Things you MUST KNOW

    Below is a list of things you MUST know in order to make sure you remain on the correct side of the law in the case of an attack. 

    1) The LAW. What does it say where you are?
    2) Reasonable force - Self Defense is NOT COMBAT and thinking it is will land you in jail!
    3) Escalation. Seeing the warning sights of an impending attack. And being able to end the threat effectively.

    In order to protect our rights, everything from Free Speech to Self Defense we must be vigilant and make sure we train in ways to always to be within the laws.

    I was surprised to realize today that this is a subject I have really never covered on this blog. I have certainly spent enough time on the floor teaching it. And enough time talking about how today in the martial arts this has become a "lost art." That part of the art is Kyusho Jitsu Body Mechanics.

    Today in the martial arts world we now focus on the generation of power, often time via the avenue of weight lifting, and other "power" building activities. Because you can bench pressure 500 pounds does not mean your punch is effective. Why? Simple physics. Without correct alignment of the body the power/torque/force generated with NOT all transfer to the attacker. 

    This is one of the reasons you can see a fighter take what looks like a tremendous hit and just stand there. Ineffective power delivery.

    If these guys had a clue about Kyusho Jitsu Body Mechanics the fights would be over in second, not rounds. But then no one would buy a ticket.

    Kyusho Jitsu Body Mechanics

    Just for your reference a "hay maker" is not an example of "torque." The illustration above shows what torque really is. A hay maker is the punch of the clueless. Now I am not saying that a hay-maker does not do damage. But it is the technique of the technique-less. 

    Kyusho Jitsu Body Mechanics - What is It?

    In Kyusho Jitsu, the science of pressure point self defense I teach something called the 3 Power Principles. I have linked the article here for you to reference. This is the start of understanding Kyusho Body Mechanics.

    * The Martial Arts Punch [Sport]

    Like physics, which is the study of natural laws, so is the study of Kyusho Jitsu Body Mechanics.  Back in the day this was taught in every martial art.

    Today very few do still teach this, and you can see that plain as day based on the "sport punch" which is just terrible body mechanics!  The first to the left is a "sport fist" and what is seen most often in martial arts today. 

    In the article on the Kyusho Power Principles I go into great details as to why this is bad body mechanics.

    Kyusho Jitsu Body Mechanics - The Basics

    Now let's take a look at some of the things that need to be studied to really understand Kyusho Jitsu Body Mechanics.

    1) Angle of Attack - You should already have known that a pressure point has a correct angle and direction in which it must be attacked. Now this is a 45 degree angle and direction will vary. But how do you get to the 45 degree angle of attack? This is part of the study of Kyusho Jitsu Body Mechanics, the 4th of the 15 Principles of Kyusho Jitsu

    2) Angle of Defense -  Only an idiot will stand and exchange blows with someone. That is a Black Belt around my waist, I am not wearing a cape with a big "S" on it! You MUST learn to move in a defensive posture and still be able to counter! And from what I have seen in 35 years. Very few do this!

    3) Triangular Alignment - When you learn to break an attack down to mathematics first you depersonalize it, which is imperative to controlling your emotions. [Quantum Kyusho]  And second you can then create a devastating counter attack, based on real efficiently generated power for maximum impact!

    4) Centering - The art of bringing everything back in to your center. And this relates directly with the above.

    5 ) Factors of the Opponent - Here is a link to understand this aspect of body mechanics.

    This is really only scratching the surface. Below I am offering a 2 minute video from my son Master Curt Mason. He is one of the best I have ever seen at Kyusho Jitsu Body Mechanics. Anyone who has ever worked with him agrees.

    In Conclusion

    This is a complex subject. But martial arts study is a lifelong pursuit right? Not a quick fix. And there are NO quick fixes in life! That is just a lie!

    These are the secrets of the master of old, who's teaching for most have been long abandoned!

    5 Best Knockout Pressure Points


    5 BEST Knockout Pressure Points

    The 5 Best Knockout Pressure Points

    So today lets talk about neurological knockouts​​​​ and what the the 5 BEST Knockout Pressure Points. Now what do I mean when I say knockout pressure points?  These are pressure points that CAN result in a neurological knockout when they are the ONLY points struck. No setup required!

    5 BEST Knockout Pressure Points

    No setup? Really????

    I know you are used to people talking about setting up pressure point knockouts, and that is the VERY best way to go! However I will explain more about that later in the article. But, you also need to know pressure points that will cause a knockout with one hit! This is especially important in self defense! An attack must end FAST. Most of all this helps to assure your success. If you do the work! 

    How does this happen?

    Time for some anatomy lessons! There are pressure points in the body that lie in very critical places.  When you get down to basics, Kyusho Jitsu is really simply nerve strikes. So if we are just hitting nerves why do we need this long study? Because the study, the science behind pressure point self defense, and knockout pressure points helps increase the odds of success. Especially if the target you want to not available when you want it!

    So lets get started shall we?

    Top 5 Best Knockout Pressure Points

    1) Stomach 5 - ST-05 tends to be everyone's "go to" knockout pressure point. The reason this point is so important is the nerve in most people is very accessible. For some it is deeper and less effective.  This is biology, not training! 

    To reach the nerve which is part of the Mandibular Branch of nerves your need to use 2-Way Action and strike in and to the back of the opposite side of the head. You may also strike it to the front and across to the other side.

    In this area, there is also a branch of the Internal Jugular Vein These nerves and veins are on the underside area of the jaw, protected by the jaw itself.

    BEST Knockout Pressure Points
    Pressure Point Knockouts

    2) Gall Bladder 20 -   Gallbladder 20 is another of the favorite points for Kyusho Jitsu practitioners for head knockouts. This point lies in the 2 hollows at the base of the back of the skull.

    Now GB-20 is a Wood element point that is hit up and in to the other side of the head. The direction “up” assumes the person to be standing like the illustration.

    This point along with Bladder 10 are excellent knockout points mostly due to being at the back of the head near the spinal column. BL-10 is however an extremely dangerous Dim Mak Pressure Point. 


    In this area run the Greater and Lesser Occipital Nerves. There is also a large but thin mass of muscle in the area, up into the head and down to the shoulder area. The 2 nerves while serving many functions also help to protect the integrity of the spinal columns connection to the skull. 

    A hard-enough blow can tear the muscles and therefore cause a tear in the spinal cord. Permanent paralysis and death can occur under the right conditions.

    3) Large Intestine 18 - Not as popular but incredibly effective LI-18 is therefore on my list! This point lies at the center of the side of the neck as shown in the diagram below. You can map it directly below, straight down from TW-17.

    Striking in and straight across will cause intense pain and if there is setup done it will take little effort for a knockout. As a stand alone point a knockout can be obtained but the best result will come if you can secure the neck with the other hand. 

    From the standpoint of the nervous system we are once again attacking the lesser occipital nerve. This nerve has many functions as mentioned previously and a hard strike will basically overload it and cause the attacker to go unconscious.

    Cool eh?

    Pressure Point Spleen 21

    4) Spleen 21 - SP-21 is one of the MOST, if not the MOST DANGEROUS​​​​ knockout pressure points on the body. Death can result from hard strike especially on the left side of the body due to the proximity of the heart. The point is located on the lateral aspect of the chest, on the mid-axillary line, in the 6th intercostal space. I only mention this one because it is a great pressure point in a life or death situation.

    The reason this, and other body points are knockout pressure points is because the brain and the nervous system will ALWAYS protect the integrity of the ribs, and assure the safety of the lungs. 

    5) Spleen 11 - Yes SP-11, if you know your pressure points you will fast realize this is a LEG point. You can knockout someone out with one shot to this point if you hit it correctly, and HARD ENOUGH! 

    How does this happen? This knockout pressure points lies on the femur in close proximity to the femoral artery. If this point is hit with enough force there is a good chance the leg with break. With the potential of a rupture to the femoral artery as a result! Therefore this overload with cause a neurological knockout!

    In Conclusion

    There are literally dozens of pressure points on the body that will cause a neurological knockout.

    Today I have given you 5 that can be used in self defense without setup provided enough force is applied. 

    What you really need to become GREAT and Master the science of pressure point self defense then you need the proper reference materials.

    One of the worst techniques seen in the martial arts world is the current version of the punch being taught today. And as i am calling it here, the Martial Arts Punch. it is mechanically terrible and in my view has been taught to the western world wrong for many reasons. 

    Today I will examine what is wrong with it, and how easily it can be corrected to increase its effectiveness dramatically

    Martial Arts Punch - History

    Much of martial art history is passed down from master to student. Often times there is really very little written documentation.However the history of the punch we see today in the Korean and Japanese martial arts is a watered down sport version. I am told this style of punch was created for the teaching of children to assure safety.

    And then taught to the western military as being correct. And I can understand why too! Right, wrong or indifferent WWII had a profound affect on the Japanese people. 

    So what is wrong with the punch? First the fist is over rotated and the position of the thumb is usually incorrect.

    From the image to the left you will notice the rotation of the hand. Mechanically this is 45 degrees over rotated!

    Plus you can see how the thumb touches the "middle finger" or Pericardium Finger. And also notice the shape of the top of the hand.

    All working together to produce an inferior striking implement. 

    We also need to take in to account the 2 bones inside of the arm. We have the Radius Bone [Thumb Side] and the Ulna Bone. [Pinky side]

    The more time, effort and study you put into understanding Kyusho Jitsu & Correct Body Mechanics the more devastating your results will be. It is simply part of the laws of physics and energy transfer.

    What is the Dim Mak Project?

    What is the Dim Mak Project? This is something I have not written on in a very long time. So today lets take a look at what the Dim Mak Project is and why it even exists.

    Back in 2011 I began my training to become a level five instructor in Kyusho Jitsu with KIA [Kyusho International Alliance]. Some of the things I learned from Grand Master Steve Stewart made me very curious as we had never discussed this before. 

    One of the things he was teaching was about the blood/chi division of the human body. This really made me think. And gave me the desire to do some serious research to understand all of this. 

    Then in 2013 I began to teach some of my findings in this area, and realized what the difference were between Dim Mak and Kyusho Jitsu. This was a real revelation for me.

    Then is 2015 I picked up the study once again. I compared by ideas and notes with Dim Mak information I could find, and tested things out on the dojo floor. And this was how the Dim Mak Project was born.. 

    Dim Mak Project - The Book

    The first stage of bringing this information to the public was to turn all of my notes into a book. I was very unsure as to whether people would be interested in Dim Mak research from someone who never formally studied the art. But I was very pleasantly surprised to discover there was a lot of interest. 

    The release of the book came in late 2017 to excellent reviews.

    Because of the success of the eBook I decided I want to do a video followup. Which I did do and released in late December 2017. It was a moderate success also!. Not like the book was, but I have no complaints!

    At this point in time i did a pole as to whether Kyusho Jitsu students would like a full course(s) on the things i had discovered. And with that the Novice Dim Mak Project Course was created. Followed by the Advanced Dim Mak Project CourseBoth of which are still available today at Kyusho Jitsu University

    There is a principle in Kyusho Jitsu that causes some questions and confusion. So today I am going to address the 3 Kyusho Jitsu Factors of an Opponent. This is not a technique or an application that you perform. But rather an understanding of the natural laws of self defense and the world. 

    The main idea behind this is we live in a 3 dimensional world, and this FACT can be used to our advantage.

    What are the 3 Kyusho Jitsu Factors of an Opponent?

    • 1
      Height - How tall a person is.
    • 2
      Width - The measurement from shoulder to shoulder
    • 3
      Depth - The 3rd Dimension

    Kyusho Jitsu Factors - Height - Width - Depth

    * Stance Kyusho Jitsu Factors of an Opponent

    The actual height of the attacker really has no meaning. it is only the fact that there is height we are concerned about. Why this matters is that in order for someone to stand, and to move forward, sideways or backwards there must be "balance." And this balance is very fragile!

    Next we have the "width" of the attacker. Once again the distance is irrelevant. Only the fact that his exists is what matters. 

    Finally we have "depth" and without depth movement would not be possible. And that is what the 3 Kyusho Jitsu Factors are all about. Movement and how to control movement by attacking these Factors.

    And the idea behind this is very simple. If when I respond to an attack I eliminate 2 of the 3 factors and then the 3rd automatically cancels out. But there is more to it than this as we must be efficient and not end up affecting ourselves. 

    Kyusho Jitsu Factors - Balance

    The key to this entire process is balance and balance has its primary basis in depth. If we look at a "forward bo" or "walking stance" and add a reverse middle punch we have a very power geometric stance with the focal point of the power being the fist of the reverse middle punch. 

    What you have is a "triangle" which is the basis for the power this punch can deliver. You can also say that the "body mechanics" of this punch are excellent. 

    This punch delivered with the correct body mechanics will mean the back leg is locked, the front knee is bent, and the punch is centered within the body. The feet at a shoulder and a half wide.

    This provides a triangle from the feet to the fist, and also the shoulders to the fist.

    In Conclusion

    What does any of this have to do with Kyusho Jitsu? I never once mentioned the words "Pressure Points" did i?

    Well you can use pressure points in a grappling situation to make this happen, and when you fully understand how this works and can apply this knowledge you can open the body up for more and better pressure point access!

    I have recently had a few questioned asked about the Kyusho Jitsu Power Principle and therefore today I will address this. This is a principle that is really not talked about very often. However in the changing face of the martial arts world today it is a good idea to discuss this.

    The Kyusho Jitsu Power Principle is based on 3 different parts. They are as follows.

    Kyusho Jitsu Power Principle - Mass

    The first of the principles is "mass." I think it is fairly obvious we are talking about body and muscle weight. Now the first thing I have to say about all of the principles is that the "working aspects" are greatly over simplified! Going into the details I will today will help you with proper training!

    When we look at mass you will find it is variable. Mass in motion has more effect than mass at rest. This involves different laws of Physics. The first being the Law of Inertia and the second Newton's Law of Motion.

    Law of Inertia:

    The tendency of an object in motion to remain in motion and the tendency of an object at rest to remain at rest unless acted upon by an external force. 

    Law of Motion:

    "Force is equal to the change in momentum per change in time. For a constant mass, force equals mass times acceleration." 

    This is written in mathematical form as F = ma

    Therefore as I am sure you can see that the more body weight the greater the force or power. However force can also be increased by increasing acceleration speed. 

    Today there is an incorrect though process about "Bulking Up" to increase power. Mathematically it is correct, however in application it tends not to work very well. Why is this? 

    There are several reasons! The first is the more mass the more difficult to overcome inertia! And the second is the extra body mass has a directly negative affect on principle 2, which is "torque."  Now people will argue that is shows more power on the "blunt" striking force tests, and this is true. But this is a "static" test and does not translate well to motion.  

    Therefore an increase in mass will impact torque and as a result reduce acceleration. 

    Kyusho Jitsu Power Principle - Torque

    Movement in the human body is control by the muscular systems, that uses the spine as a pivoting point.

    Without the spine being able to move the way it does motions like walking and reaching would not happen. 

    Kyusho Jitsu Power Principle

    If any part of the system is impaired, then motion also becomes very restricted. This is a 2 part control system, as we look at motion from the hips, and also at the shoulder area. 

    The systems of the body in a healthy person are in perfect balance. Power training in excess, and done without regard to this "balance" while providing an increase in mass and therefore an increase in static power will restrict torque. This makes the power increase very inefficient! 

    Is inefficiency important? Yes because of energy loss! The harder movement is the more power is wasted and not applied. This is often referred to as "muscle bound."

    The goal of the martial artist must be efficiency of movement. This is the true formula to creating power.

    Kyusho Jitsu Power Principle - Gravity

    This is a rather simple part, however it has generated a lot of questions. First I do not like the word "gravity" as it is overused and has never been proven. it is a theory which is fine. We are accepting observation as law, which is not the correct method of doing things. And most physicists are happy to admit this. 

    What we observe in life with objects falling is actually the law of density and buoyancy. This is why object fall to the ground and at what speeds they fall. There are many factors at play here. [a balloon is lighter than air therefore more buoyant]

    Kyusho Jitsu Down Block

    For the purpose of a martial artist creating power is based on the idea that since our mass is denser than the air we move in, we will create more power moving in a downward arch versus and upward arch. 

    Upward motion require we overcome the inertia of our mass, while downward motion we do not need to overcome our mass because we are denser than air.

    Now really the terminology does not matter. You can certainly call it gravity if you wish. I just personally prefer using "laws" versus "theory" whenever possible.

    In conclusion this is basis of power generation for not just the Kyusho Jitsu student, but any martial artist. Today when we focus on power we are missing an important part of the equation.

    What am I talking about when I say "Kyusho 2 Way Action?" Today I will go into details on this very important aspect of the science of pressure point self defense. Kyusho 2 Way Action is what makes all this work!

    Kyusho 2 Way Action - History

    2 Way Action has always existed in martial arts. However not as a "teaching." It was something you saw the master do, or you did not. It was Professor Wally Jay the founder of Small Circle Jujitsu who refined this concept and taught it.

    But Kyusho 2 Way Action is what makes everything work! 2 Way Action is also referred to as "complex motion."

    Kyusho 2 Way Action - Striking

    Striking is vastly different than as an example joint manipulation. So today I want to really break this all down for you. The video above will give you a basic understanding of what I am talking about. Now let's go into details on what kind of result you would get during a strike.

    Kyusho 2 Way Action - Fulcrum/Lever Activation

    Kyusho Jitsu Joint Locks

    Now Kyusho 2 Way Action does not just refer to striking. It also refers to joint manipulation as well!

    And my observations are that most people simply do not understand how a joint lock, or manipulation actually work!

    Often time the activation is done in the wrong order, causing a massive decrease in effectiveness and pain when applied.

    So how do you tell the difference? The fulcrum is the part of the hand/wrist that is closest to the Uki's body when the lock has been APPLIED

    So as an example in a finger lock, the main knuckles at the bottom of the finger are the fulcrum and the fingers are the lever. 

    Kyusho 2 Way Action & Intent

    In the final video I go into a great amount of detail on Kyusho 2 Way Action, as well as intent, which is another very important subject!

    Once 2 Way Action is fully understood and internalized it is a real game changer in all aspects of martial arts training. The martial arts world owes much to the Jay family for their revolutionary work in the martial arts.
