Exact Kyusho Pressure Point Locations: One of the main reasons for failure when it comes to the science of pressure point self defense is NOT knowing the Exact Kyusho Pressure Point Locations. And the fact is that often times the charts you are using are wrong. You can and will find variance in charts from different countries. So how are you supposed to know?
Therefore today I will talk about how to find Exact Kyusho Pressure Point Locations!
Exact Kyusho Pressure Point Locations - Pressure Point GB-20
In this diagram, one I use often because I have modified it to show the pressure point, we have GB-20. The exact location of the pressure point is in the grove at the base of the skull. Good luck hitting that point well!
You will most like hurt your hand doing so! The correct angle and direction is in and up to the other side of the skull.
And YES it does work! But if you come a little downward, and strike just below this pressure point you get a better result. You are hitting the "lesser occipital nerve" very solidly.
Kyusho Pressure Point Locations - The Charts are Wrong?
Are the acupuncture charts wrong? No they are not wrong. However you do need to understand that acupuncture is an exact healing science / art. Kyusho Jitsu and Dim Mak are NOT exact sciences. These sciences of self defense are ones of exploration, not exact road maps. Exact Kyusho Pressure Point Locations are not as critical as in healing arts.
Back many years ago I was doing a demonstration of a knockout back in my home town of Windsor Ontario. I was using a teenager for a Stomach 5 knockout. But, this young man had a very unusual jaw line. He was a very heavy Fire Element person! ST-05 was not where I expected to find it! After I located the point, before the show I discovered it hurt my hand because of the location to strike there. This was in fact the ideal place to use an "iron bone hand" but I did not want to do that! So I cheated the knockout!
The knockout went fine. But this is an important note to make when studying Kyusho Jitsu. No humane body is exactly alike. You need to study anatomy also to be able to find not just pressure points, but also how the nerves run!
An example the nerve at ST-05 in my experience is available in at least 2 different ways. And the one I teach, for me has been the most effective place to strike. But if I send you to just a "chart" it will not be obvious to you! Your do need the charts! But you also need more study as well! Personally I also have a copy of Grey's Anatomy, and I am not talking about the TV Show! If you decide to get a copy, please do not use Amazon. Support a local book store.
Kyusho Pressure Point Locations - The Nerves
Angle and direction, you hit in and down stretching the nerve and getting a very dramatic effect on the body. Striking this way is easier, and more effective. I would still call this a GB-20 strike, but the point I strike is NOT the exact pressure point!
And we also tend to be that "area of activation" I speak of often in novice or beginner Kyusho Jitsu Courses. All part of knowing the Exact Kyusho Pressure Point Locations.
