One of the main reasons for failure when it comes to the science of pressure point self defense is NOT knowing the Exact Kyusho Pressure Point Locations. And the fact is that often times the charts you are using are wrong. You can and will find variance in charts from different countries. So how are you supposed to know?
Therefore today I will talk about how to find Exact Kyusho Pressure Point Locations!
Are the acupuncture charts wrong? No they are not wrong. However you do need to understand that acupuncture is an exact healing science / art. Kyusho Jitsu and Dim Mak are NOT exact sciences. These sciences of self defense are ones of exploration, not exact road maps.
Back many years ago I was doing a demonstration of a knockout back in my home town of Windsor Ontario. I was using a teenager for a Stomach 5 knockout. But, this young man had a very unusual jaw line. He was a very heavy Fire Element person! ST-05 was not where I expected to find it! After I located the point, before the show I discovered it hurt my hand because of the location to strike there. This was in fact the ideal place to use an "iron bone hand" but I did not want to do that! So I cheated the knockout!
The knockout went fine. But this is an important note to make when studying Kyusho Jitsu. No humane body is exactly alike. You need to study anatomy also to be able to find not just pressure points, but also how the nerves run!
An example the nerve at ST-05 in my experience is available in at least 2 different ways. And the one I teach, for me has been the most effective place to strike. But if I send you to just a "chart" it will not be obvious to you! Your do need the charts! But you also need more study as well! Personally I also have a copy of Grey's Anatomy, and I am not talking about the TV Show!
In this diagram, one I use often because I have modified it to show the pressure point, we have GB-20. The exact location of the pressure point is in the grove at the base of the skull. Good luck hitting that point well! You will most like hurt your hand doing so! The correct angle and direction is in and up to the other side of the skull.
And YES it does work! But if you come a little downward, and strike just below this pressure point you get a better result. You are hitting the "lesser occipital nerve" very solidly. Angle and direction, you hit in and down stretching the nerve and getting a very dramatic effect on the body. Striking this way is easier, and more effective. I would still call this a GB-20 strike, but the point I strike is NOT the exact pressure point!
And we also tend to be that "area of activation" I speak of often in novice or beginner Kyusho Jitsu Courses.
Checkout the "Sneak Peak" preview of my new eBook Kyusho Pressure Point Anatomy! This eBook will give you detailed information on the location and function of every pressure point on the Body! Grab this preview NOW FREE!

Are you looking for Real World Self Defense? Or do you assume your current level of training is enough? With today's proliferation of martial sport there is a dangerous illusion that has been constructed. And that illusion is that "if you can fight in a ring, or in a bar you are safe from street attacks." But the FACTS are, that this is very far from the truth!
You can be a REAL martial arts expert and master, and I know many, many such people. But their ego believes that somehow what they learned makes the safe. And the body count over the years proves them WRONG. I knew personally one such gentleman who interfered with a robbery and got stabbed for his trouble. Sadly he did not make it. Most of all his ego cost him his life!
I have stated my thoughts on sport and martial arts. I am not a fan, however that is not my point here. In a ring there is a certain mentality. This is one of WINNING and doing so with a certain set of rules. Back in my day competing these rules also included certain values which I no long see today. These men and women are great athletes, but it is always good to know your limitations.
This image is from UFC 131 in Vancouver BC. This might have been a great fight. I don't know because I don't watch.
However my point in the article is this is NOT what a real attack looks like. Nor does any part of this fight ever resemble a street attack.
What is happening here has a purpose and that is WINNING. On the street it is only SURVIVAL!
Winning is based on fitness levels, therefore performance and the ability to counter attack with the right move at the right time. Also the person who wishes to win the most often does.
I am very hard on my own people. There is a very BAD view that somehow or another you are not truly a martial artist unless you have a direct linage to a founder of a style, or a high name master. This is the biggest pile of bullshit I have ever seen in something that does not tie to politics.
You cannot live vicariously via your linage! Many of these great master understood what Real World Self Defense means. However it does not mean their students do, or that the teachings still have application today! Students have a tendency to believe that their teachers knew it all! That is a very dangerous thought process!
Tradition is OK, as long as it does not become dogma. There must always be growth otherwise you are doing backwards.
Real World Self Defense is a combination of mentality and movement that provides a path to successfully defending yourself on the streets today, in a real attack. What do I mean by a real attack? When someone wants "something" from you and they intend to commit bodily harm to you up to and including death. That does not happen in a ring!
Most knife defense programs as based on the ideas people have seen from Hollywood. Such as someone holding a knife this way and stabbing down.
This is a BIG misconception of how things happen. It is OK to train the idea, but the student needs to know this idea is fantasy!
Many of these criminals have nothing to lose, and there is no one more dangerous than someone with nothing to lose! There are so many misconceptions of really happens in a self defense situation that it is alarming. What is even more alarming is that these misconceptions are being taught as factual! Now I am not saying martial arts teachers should stop teaching the things they do. However I am saying that they need to teach the difference between technique and application.
They also need to make sure that as they evolve their techniques into application that they have done their homework! Not made assumptions that they are right!
Yes there are solutions for this problem! And it is NOT the systems that automatically come to mind! Learning them is great! However you need to develop a solid foundation in real world self defense skills and then integrate it into your current system. Yes this does include the science of pressure point self defense Kyusho Jitsu. However without a solid base in your root art for self defense Kyusho Jitsu will not be as effective as it could be!
This is where I give you Humane Pressure Point Tactics. This is a 4 level system teaching what really happens on the streets and how to be safe FIRST! It deals with escalation and learning to control any situation. I cover everything from the basics of dealing with a street confrontation to attacks with weapons and gangs. Plus the new Level Four covers the changing world to include mental illness and online stalking.
Depending on exactly what you are studying in the martial arts it is a good idea to always supplement this knowledge.
Now there is nothing wrong with the study of some of the extreme self defense systems that boast being combat oriented.
However, applying this knowledge the street under the wrong circumstances will cost you your freedom! Don't believe the "fear no man" and "defeat any attacker" propaganda!
Have you had any serious street situations? How did you handle them? Tell me about it here.

That is a GREAT question! What are the Best Pressure Points for Self Defense? The answer is not black and white, and I have done years of research to come up with a conclusion!
So let's get into it and talk about the Best Kyusho Pressure Points for Self Defense!
First we need to look at what criteria I used to determine the Best Pressure Points for Self Defense. Not all pressure points when it comes to self defense are created equally! There are many pressure points that work very well on pretty much everyone tested. But there "EFFECT" is minimal therefore in self defense they are not much use!
As an example, LU-8 and HT-06. These pressure points when used together will cause a release of both the wrist and the hand! I have never met ANYONE that I could not make this work on! But the problem is on the street "buddy" is gonna be punching my face in while I am working these points!
Therefore they are not the Best Kyusho Pressure Points for Self Defense!
The next question is how did I decide on the most effective Pressure Points for Self Defense?
A valuable effect is when a strike or manipulation will cause the attacker to be:
Without these kinds of effects the pressure point in question cannot be included in this list! Other pressure points can be used in lower escalation situations, which is not the purpose of this list. I am also excluding "deadly" pressure point because they are in a category of their own!
For the purpose of learning Pressure Points for Self Defense, pain is only counted when it is high enough to override the rush of adrenaline the attacker is experiencing! Pain only matters when it is crippling!
Plus all these Pressure Points for Self Defense must be easily integrated into any root art or self defense system! The idea behind the science of pressure point self defense is not to change the martial art you currently study. The purpose is to enhance its effectiveness!
That is the something our teaching at the Kyusho Jitsu World Alliance has accomplished!
Learn about the BEST Pressure Points to add to your martial arts training! #kyusho #pressurepoints

Do Kyusho Jitsu Secrets really exist? Is there "hidden" information out there that only a handful of people know about? The answer is both Yes & No!
One of the most common complaints I get from martial artists who have come from other organizations to join the Kyusho Jitsu World Alliance is I was "not really learning anything."
That is very sad, but I cannot say I am surprised!
There are really no secrets, only information that martial arts instructors tend to keep to themselves so that they can retain their positions above the students. To my mind that is the wrong thing to do, the wrong way to approach things, and the major difference between an "instructor" and a "teacher."
I am a TEACHER.
Also telling students they cannot talk to, or belong to other organizations is suicide! Your students are your life blood, you need them as much as they need you! Lose the EGO guys! Yeah, this opinion does NOT made me popular. Oh well!
Here is a TRUE story for you from back almost 8 years ago.
I was headed to Bucharest Romania in fall of 2010 to teach a weekend seminar. As I was in the process of booking this I was approached by another group in Europe to come there the following weekend.
We talked about price and they agreed to fly me from Bucharest to their city, then return me to Bucharest for my flight back to Canada. Therefore this was a win/win for everyone. And the price I was giving them excellent! It meant being in Bucharest a week, but that was OK.
Now being that I was not very well known I was not going to command big money like some other instructors were getting. And I was good with that! It takes time to build a solid reputation.
So everything was setup, I agree to come from Bucharest to their city. But I made a BIG mistake. I did not take a deposit. I arrived in Bucharest on the Thursday afternoon for my Friday seminar. Once there I had a email cancelling the second seminar.
Now I am stuck in Bucharest for an extra week, and no seminar to teach. I have a school in Canada to run. This did not make me happy. The other group had decided to bring a high end instructor in at 3 times the price.
After my total of 8 days in Bucharest I returned home. A few days later I got an email from the guy who cancelled on me. I asked how his seminar went and he said AWESOME. "You should see the things that "Master XXXX" can do.!"
"Cool so what did you learn? Can you do this?" The answer was "well, no but he was amazing!" My final comment was, "so you paid 2000 euro plus expenses for a show?"
A few days later I was contacted by the group about perhaps coming the following spring and teaching some classes. I politely declined. I suggested he stay loyal to Master XXXX. [I will not print his name out of respect to him]
The answer as you can asked my students is NO I teach everything! Why? Because first of all my teacher GM Stewart did not keep secrets from me. And I want my students to be better then me with time!
I teach everything! But when the student is ready to understand the information. And I do it for a very reasonable price. This will not always stay this way because the busier I get the more I need to chose who gets what and when.
My time is limited by the clock, and we all must make a living! This tells you that now is the time to get involved with our programs! Why?
Because if you really learn how to use the science of pressure point self defense in real life, then it is time to take the first steps. And I don't keep Kyusho Jitsu Secrets!

I was searching on Google today and saw the question about Kyusho Pressure Point Activation. So I decided it is a good time to address this one!
First I need to start here. What is a pressure point? A pressure point is a place on the body where a nerve come to an end, where it branches off in a "Y." Also where is "X's" another nerve. The "old timers" called them nerve strikes. And I guess you can see why!
When a pressure point is activated the associated meridian to the point is also activated. This can last anywhere from a few minutes to 20 minutes. Depending on if the pressure point is hit correctly, and with enough FORCE.
The harder and cleaner you hit, the better the result! Note I said NOTHING about "light touch." I really don't know where people get the idea of "light touch." When working with a partner you don't hit them hard, because they won't be able to continue if you do!
Common sense right?
Every pressure point is hit or attacked at a 45 degree angle. I cannot in a single article address "direction" for every point because they are all in many ways different. However as an example LI-10 [Large Intestine 10] is hit "through" to the other side, at a 45 degree angle, using 2 Way Action.
2 Way Action, also referred to as complex motion is the reason, the discovery that make the science of pressure point self defense work! Without a solid understanding of Kyusho 2 Way Action none of this will be effective. But the great news is that this motion is natural, and once internalized becomes like breathing.
Watch this video for exact details on 2 way Action!
The sound is a little bit "buzzy" due to lighting issues in the room. But it gets the point across well!
In conclusion today I have covered some of the very important basic understanding of the science of pressure point self defense Kyusho Jitsu.
Are you new to all this? Then I suggest as your next step to look at enrolling in one or more of our FREE Kyusho Jitsu Courses.

Today I am going to address a common question, Kyusho Jitsu Does it Work? This is a very common question. It actually came up for me on a Google Search, so lets answer this one!
But first I need to ask you, the reader a few questions!
1) Do you run a Dojo? Are you successful?
2) Are you a MMA champion?
3) Have you a professional fight?
What did you answer to those 3 questions? If yes to any, good for you! If no to any, then why not?
The fact is that the answer to each of those questions is based on you! If want to do it, if it is a goal in your life. If you have drive and ambition, you can do any or all of those things listed! Kyusho Jitsu does it work?
The answer is really up to you!
People who are FAILURES in life can find an excuse why ANYTHING does not work. AND IT IS ALL EXCUSES!
I played hockey most of my life. But I never made the NHL. Why? Because if was not a passion for me to do so! Now if it had been things could certainly have gone wrong. Injuries can end a career quickly!
Same with self defense. Like getting attacked, trying to defend yourself and you get stabbed! The reason you got stabbed was not a shortfall of your martial art system.
It was YOUR shortfall! Errors you made. The situation perhaps, but not the martial art itself.
Yes it DOES, 100% if YOU do the work! But it takes time, dedication and hard training. Like anything in life, success or failure falls into the hand of the individual. I have had many failures in my life, and they are ALL my fault and not something outside of me.
So what does it take to make Kyusho Jitsu work in real life? Study, dedication and training! Yes it really is that simple! Here is another article I wrote on the subject a while back. You can learn and accomplish anything in life you wish, when you stop listening to those who wish to pull you down.
I have seen so many times someone commenting "Pressure Points don't work" and then in the next breath talk about the great KO they saw in the recent MMA event.
The funny thing is that KO was the result of stimulation of the nervous system! All knockouts are neurological events! Don't let your ego get in the way of becoming more effective!
If you have a question feel free to ask here.

What are the 3 Most Painful Pressure Points on the human body? There are many different pressure points that when stimulated correctly can cause vast amounts of pain! Learning and understanding these points is an important part of the science of pressure point self defense. So let's take a look at 3 or my favorite "pain points." When understood correctly PAIN is a great deterrent in a low to medium self defense situation.
There are certainly many, many more and you can download a report with more below! But this will get you started!
The first of the 3 Most Painful Pressure Points on the body is TW-17. This is a great point which I am personally very fond of!!
It causes intense pain on about 90 percent of the people I have worked with. Those are pretty good odds too! Located behind the ear posterior to the lobule of the ear, in the depression between the mandible and mastoid process.
One of the most painful and potentially deadly pressure points. Easy to press in and seal with the finger, but difficult to strike. However, once a solid strike is made the result is devastating. As a control pressure point it is very effective!
Once hit there is a potential for a separation between the spinal column and skull resulting in permanent paralysis and possible death. A jaw dislocation is also possible using proper angle and direction. Striking this point can cause a knockout however this not recommended in Dojo training due to the serious potential consequences.
This is another massively most painful pressure points on the human body, which is rub pressure point primarily. However you can use as an example and hammer-fist on it and hit in and down.
GV-26 is located on the inside of the upper lip, at the junction of the frenulum and the upper gum. It is attacked by pressing in and down on the upper lip, with a 2-Way Action. A vibrating side to side motion works best! Small motion while pressing in HARD.
This is a great point to use if someone gets on top of you. They will not stay there long if you attack this point! It can also be struck down which can cause a knockout.
Here is an article if you wish to read more about GV-26.
LI-18 is a wonderful strike point. When hit correctly with 2 Way Action, and straight across to the other side will cause crippling pain. If the strike is of sufficient force a knockout can also occur.
A solid strike to Pressure Point Large Intestine 18 on one side will cause the person to drop down to their knees in pain. The pain is very slow to dissipate, which allows time for escape in a self defense situation.
A simple inward knife hand or "ridge" hand will accomplish this very well
Holding / supporting the neck on the opposite side with your other hand will also intensify the effect. LI-18 can also cause respiratory issues in anyone who has any kind of chronic breathing issues! You can read more about LI-18 HERE.
This is only 3 of the many, many most painful pressure points on the human body!
Are there some you find to be more PAINFUL than the ones I am listing here?
If yes please tell me about your favorites by CLICKING HERE

Pressure Point ST-09 is situated right over the carotid sinus. The carotid sinus is a Baroreceptor, whose purpose is to detect an increase in blood pressure. When it detects an increase, it sends a signal to the vasomotor center of the via the vagus nerve. This initiates a Vasodilatation, and slowing of the heart rate to lower the blood pressure to normal.
When struck this pressure points is struck there is an immediate, violent and dangerous response from the brain. The blood pressure will drop quickly causing a "vascular faint" or knockout. This can be accomplished with a low to medium strike.
A harder strike can cause serious damage to the nervous and arterial systems of the area which will result in death. ST-09 is also Dim Mak points because an energy strike to this part of the system, both nervous and vascular, will cause enough "dysfunction" to result in death overtime.
The serious martial artist should be concerned about Carotid Sinus Reflex when it comes to this pressure point and ST-10. The effect is temporary loss of consciousness or a knockout that sometimes accompanies convulsive seizures. This is because of the power of the carotid sinus reflex when pressure builds up in one or both carotid sinuses.
