5 Reasons to Study Kyusho Jitsu

Top 5 Reasons to Study Kyusho Jitsu

Why study Kyusho Jitsu? What are the advantages to the study of the science of pressure point self defense? The truth is there are MANY reasons to do so. But today I am going to give you a list of 5 of the top reasons!

5 Reasons to Study Kyusho

These are 5 reasons to study Kyusho, but  I can think of dozens. But lets start simple shall we?

  1. It makes your techniques more effective! How does it do this? When you study Kyusho Jitsu you begin to look at how the body works, and therefore the best ways to affect the body. The neurological systems controls how everything works. Therefore attacking nerves is a MUST!
  2. Size stops mattering! When I was young and Bruce Lee was still alive people spoke about in martial arts size does not matter. In today's martial arts competition oriented world size matters a LOT! That is because this knowledge of pressure points has been lost.
  3. Ageless. When you study Kyusho Jitsu it also helps to compensate for aging! This one I know very well! Age and injury eventually take advantage of us all! Even Chuck Norris
  4. Expands your understanding. Kyusho Jitsu will also help to expand your understanding of the root art you study! There is no wasted movement in any martial art system. But if can seem like there is. That is because knowledge gets lost over time. Therefore to study Kyusho Jitsu helps to bring this back!
  5. Understanding Kata. There is magic locked inside your Kata! But on the surface it is often overlooked. The study of Kyusho Jitsu will help you to unlock the secrets in your Kata? Why is this important? It is because when you see these things, your brain then accepts and internalizes the movement. Therefore making them, or versions of them accessible during a stressful self defense situation. Here are some other benefits of Kata training as well.

Ready to Study Kyusho Jitsu?

So are you ready to study in depth the science of pressure point self defense? There is a lot of information on the internet, but honestly a lot of it is very superficial and inaccurate too. However I believe in teaching the "real thing!" Not a watered down, incomplete version.

3 Most Painful Pressure Points

The 3 Most Painful Pressure Points

What are the 3 Most Painful Pressure Points on the human body? There are many different pressure points that when stimulated correctly can cause vast amounts of pain! Learning and understanding these points is an important part of the science of pressure point self defense. So let's take a look at 3 or my favorite "pain points."  There are certainly many, many more! But this will get you started!

Triple Warmer 17

Painful Pressure Points - Triple Warmer Meridian

Painful Pressure Points - Triple Warmer Meridian

The first of the 3 Most Painful Pressure Points on the body is TW-17. This is a great point! It causes intense pain on about 90 percent of the people I have worked with. Those are pretty good odds too! The point located as per the diagram at the bottom on the ear, where it meets the neck. Activation is pressing in and forward towards the front of the face. The best weapon to use is the middle finger. Try it out using other fingers and see the difference in the results. If you seal on the other side of the head, at TW-17 with your other hand the pain at least doubles!

Striking this point can cause a knockout and because of its relationship with the spine is an very dangerous point if hit hard.

Pressure Points of the head

Pressure Points of the head

This is another massively painful pressure points is rub point. Located at center-line, below the nose at the meeting of the gums.  Pushing in and rubbing side to side, while preferable holding the back of the head is excruciating! This is a great point to use if someone gets on top of you. They will not stay there long if you attack this point! It can also be struck down which can cause a knockout.

Large Intestine 18

Large Intestine 18

This is a wonderful strike point. When hit correctly with 2 Way Action, and straight across to the other side will cause crippling pain. If the strike is of sufficient force a knockout can also occur. Holding / supporting the neck on the opposite side with your other hand will also intensify the effect. LI-10 can also cause respiratory issues in anyone who has any kind of chronic breathing issues!

Humane Pressure Point Self Defense

Humane Pressure Point Self Defense

Humane Pressure Point Self Defense

Humane Pressure Point Self Defense

What are Humane Pressure Point Self Defense [tactics] and why is it so important for martial artists to learn and understand these? First I want to address any controversy you have read about over time.

Kyusho Jitsu or pressure point fighting has been criticized as being not effective and criticized by many, many "expert" martial artists who are simply too "closed minded, stupid or lazy" to do the study.  If I punch you in the face it is going to HURT. If I alter the method slightly and hit you in the face where a nerve is closer to the surface or more exposed it will hurt a LOT MORE. Pressure Points when studied and applied correctly WORK. I find these types of people laughable at best.

Humane Pressure Point Self Defense

H.P.P.T Humane Pressure Point Tactics

H.P.P.T Humane Pressure Point Tactics

Back in 2009 I completed the HPPT Courses with Grand Master Steve Stewart that certified me as a Level Three Humane Pressure Point Tactics Instructor. There were only 3 levels to the course. Today the certification patch is still on my Gi also. It was a great course!

What is this for?

The main idea is to be able to take complete control of a bad situation, before it turns to violence. The course is perfect to teach anyone in a position of deal with the public where problem can arise. [Bars, security, high school teachers, medical etc]. In fact I did a course years ago for ambulance attendants.

It is also excellent for police as it helps them control a situation without needing to use a taser or "billy" stick. Below is a short video example of a Humane Pressure Point Self Defense Tactic.

Why is this Important?

Why is Humane Pressure Points, or Humane Kyusho Jitsu as I usually call it so very important to the average martial artist? Now you can argue for a "moral" responsibility, but that one for me kind of falls on deaf ears. People make choices, and attacking someone is a choice.

However there are very important legal concerns. Here is an accepted Legal Definition of Self Defense. Our concern as martial artists is that we comply with this definition because we live in a "legal" system and not a "justice" system. Therefore we must use "reasonable force" at all times!

If we do not, then it could very well be us on assault charges or worse. And a trained martial artist will get very little sympathy from a jury.

Surveillance World

Today there is surveillance everywhere! I cannot think of any place you can really go in a city without someone seeing what is going on. They are also videoing it, but this rarely shows the true picture. If someone attacks you, and their buddy or girlfriend is there, and you "overdue" the defense, this can go bad fast!

Self Defense and Cameras everywhere!

Self Defense and Cameras everywhere!

Therefore the need of Humane Kyusho Jitsu.

Humane Pressure Point Self Defense of Humane Kyusho Jitsu, whichever term you prefer will allow you to handle a BAD situation before it escalates to a seriously violent end.  Here are a few example of times when this knowledge could really help you.

  1. The drunk brother in law who is sure he can take you.
  2. The guy in the bar who believes you are looking at his girlfriend
  3. A client or someone who becomes angry and the situation gets out of hand.

The list goes on and on! I am sure you can think of dozens of such example. Plus on a video, it looks as if you are defending yourself. And not attacking! I had one such situation years ago in  bar in Windsor where a guy who knew who i was had a "few too many" and needed to be "calmed."  Had I reacted with too much force this would have gone bad, FAST!

Learning these skills

Humane Kyusho Jitsu Companion Video

Humane Kyusho Jitsu

I cannot overemphasize how important these skills are to develop. They are all "pain pressure point" based and work very well. As you can see from the video above, that "Come along" really hurts when done correctly.

And it is easy to apply too! There are so some verbal skills you need to learn also. This helps with control but also helps make you case if the altercation goes to court.

I have written an eBook on the subject of Humane Kyusho Jitsu and also have a very solid video on the topic. You an check both of these out from the links below!

I almost forgot too! If you want to learn more about Humane Pressure Point Self Defense there is an article from Black Belt Magazine you can look at right here. Always remember success in a self defense situation gets down to many different things. All knowledge must be applied, which means you can just read it or watch it. You gotta do the work and train it!

How to be a Dedicated Kyusho Student

Shares

Dedicated Kyusho Student

Dedicated Kyusho Student

Dedicated Kyusho Student

Are you a dedicated Kyusho Student? In today's very busy very distracted world being dedicated to any kind of study requires vigilance and some special skills. We are distracted by literally several thousands things per day, all trying to get our attention. Therefore we must develop some special "life skills" be become successful!

Skill #1

Desire: You need to have a burning desire to learn. If you think it might be something good to get into, you simply will not do the work. This is true of anything in life too!

Skill #2

Focus. You need to be able to put other things aside and focus. Turn off the cellphone, close down Facebook and do the work. Over the last 10 years I have seen students bring cellphones to class! Unless you are waiting for an emergency call like a sick family member or wife having a child. Put the phone away.

Skill #3

Schedule. You need to set aside time for your study that is not going to be changed because something comes up. Be realistic too! Don't set aside 2 hours per day and then miss it! It is better to take 20 minutes 3 times per week and dedicate to it! This will give you a result. Commit to a reasonable schedule and keep it! You can always expand it later!

Skill #4

Goals. Set a goal based on the above and work to reach it! We are goal oriented creatures and this gives what we do purpose!

When you put these things in order then you are headed towards success in the science of pressure point self defense and anything else in life!

In conclusion we have course that can help you meet these goals! Therefore if you have not yet done so take a look at our Novice Kyusho Jitsu Home Study Course. And because this is a rank certification course and you will not believe how reasonable it is to take!

Kyusho Jitsu & SSL Security

Shares

Kyusho Jitsu & SSL Security

Kyusho Jitsu & SSL Security

Kyusho Jitsu & SSL Security

Today for a few minutes I want to address Kyusho Jitsu & SSL Security. What do these 2 things have to do with each other? Actually quite a lot! Over the rest of this week, all the websites and blog at the Kyusho Jitsu World Alliance will become SSL Secured!

Why is this important?

Since last year we have had 2 secured sites. This was Kyusho Jitsu University and the Kyusho Video Course site. Today I am happy to tell you that the following websites are now also SSL Secured.

So what are the reasons this is important. The first reason is now on all these website you can use a Credit Card and not just PayPal. There are many countries in the world, like Turkey for example where PayPal is not allowed or very restricted. And this makes things very difficult for those who wish to learn he science of pressure point self defense. Now there have NEVER been a security issued because PayPal provided the encryption. But now credit cards can be used, and we have that extra "layer" of security.

Why SSL Certify All Sites?

Therefore over the next week all websites will become SSL certified. Why bother if there is no commerce on the website? The reason is simple. SSL certification means that the connection between your browser and our website is encrypted so it remains PRIVATE. If you fill out a web-form for a product no one can see the information. It is just a better way to go! And this added layer of keeps your information totally private.

Because I believe martial arts, kyusho jitsu and security all go hand in hand we will continue to provide the best possible Kyusho Jitsu education. And provide the best possible security for your experience! Hence the reason for this action and and why Kyusho Jitsu & SSL Security go hand in hand.

In conclusion if you have any questions please comment below!  And if you enjoyed this post please share it with your friends on social media. Also as a side note, unlike Facebook or other services we NEVER sell or share your information with anyone!

Have a great day and I am looking forward to working with you!
