How Kyusho Works [Pressure Points]

How Kyusho Works

How Kyusho Works

So, how does Kyusho Jitsu Work? Today I am going to go into details on exactly how Kyusho Works, with a real NO BS answer for you! So hang on tight and lets get to the truth of exactly how Kyusho works!

The first thing I need to do is to define "what a pressure point is." Every Kyusho Jitsu teacher I know of teaches this, after which things can become confusing for the student.

What is a pressure point?

A pressure point is a place on the body where a nerve terminates or comes to an end. Where a nerve crosses over or under another nerve.  Or where a nerve branches off into as an example a "Y."

Free Kyusho Information

So what does this tell you? It gives you a clear path to understanding "How Kyusho Works" because as I hope you see from this, Kyusho Jitsu is "nerve" strikes. For some reason today that is NOT understood and has been lost in the Chinese Medical approach to teaching.

How Kyusho Works - Eastern Medicine

The stand approach for instructors teaching the science of pressure point self defense is the "eastern" or "Chinese" medical approach.  And there is a VERY good reason for doing this! But I will get into that later in the article.

However, this does cause issues! There are many people in the west, and today this is the bulk of martial artists, who blindly believe anything medical science in the west has to say today.

I call this brainwashing! Why? Because over the 50 plus years of my life their "facts" always change as new information comes to light!

Kyusho Yin-Yang Theory

The real truth is,when it comes to biology there is "probability" not FACT because ever person is different. Therefore a questioning mind is needed for anything. Because someone is a "doctor" does not make them perfect! There are great doctors, and bad doctors, like anything else is the world!

Now with that out of the way, the eastern approach which I still teach today is based on "reverse" acupuncture. Does it work? Yes it does and very effectively!

BUT, it is only part of the equation!

How Kyusho Works - Western Medicine

In my teaching I spend a lot of time explaining Kyusho Jitsu from the western, nerve strike point of view. A while back I had a martial arts master, who was a "disbeliever" in Kyusho Jitsu say to me, "if it is just nerves strikes why do we need Kyusho?"

The Science of Pressure Point Self Defense

I did not bother to explain it to him. His mind is closed like so many today, and I have better things to do that try to change minds.

When I teach Kyusho with references to western medicine I do so in very simply terms, that allow the student to relate to something we understand in our western cultures.

Plus I also encourage them to ask their doctor about the things I explain.

Why do I keep it simple? Because it is important to relate Kyusho Jitsu with how the body functions, but students unless they are interested do not need a detailed breakdown of the functions of the nervous and vascular systems.

I am not interested in showing off my intelligence.

I am too old for ego crap! Therefore I am interested in making strong, confident and knowledgeable students!

Knowledge and Ego

How Kyusho Works - both disciplines

When it come to understanding how Kyusho works both disciplines are needed. For some people who tend to be "left brained" they need the western approach! It appeals to their logical minds.  For the person who is "right brained" this information does not help them. In fact it will turn them off!

They need the more creative eastern approach to bring them to an understanding their more creative mind can see. The right brained person tends to see more in pictures, therefore seeing energy flow in a meridian will help them learn and apply more than thinking about the "occipital" nerve.

How Kyusho Works

Side Note

Let me be blunt here! Some martial arts teachers like turning off students and getting them to quit! They somehow in their myopic minds think that this makes them important! Sorry, reaching the student is the GOAL! Not making them quit!

This is why at Kyusho Jitsu University and with courses like our Kyusho Jitsu Home Study Course teach both disciplines! And this is why my success rate teaching Kyusho Jitsu and getting them to Black Belt range, and master levels is so high.

It also means I need to be available for FULL support of my students and their questions, which I am! The ultimate of this is our Coaching Program.

How Kyusho Works - The Middle Way

The very best approach for the average person to learning the science of pressure point self defense called Kyusho Jitsu in experiencing and learning from both words. Focus on one without the other, until a master level is reached is a BIG mistake.

Why? Because the goal of the teaching and learning is application!  Another big issue I see in the martial art instructors world this that their way is the only way!

I have been blessed at being successful in every self defense incident I have had in my life.

Kyusho Jitsu Cycle of Emotions - Control Emotions

What is success? I am still here! However I do know that what works for one may not work for another. Therefore a broad range of teaching is required! Every student is different and systems needs to be in place to help them all reach success.

How Kyusho Works?

It works by striking or manipulating a pressure point or nerve on the body. The over-stimulation causes a, what is hope, is a predictable result in the humane body. Causing unconsciousness or paralysis in a limb, drop or blood pressure etc....

When incorporated into a martial art style or system it can increase the effectiveness of the art thereby increasing the odds of success in an altercation.

Kyusho Cycle of Emotions

Shares

Kyusho Cycle of Emotions

Kyusho Cycle of Emotions

What is the Kyusho Cycle of Emotions? How does it work? On the surface it is a very simply cycle. Application of it is however a little more complicated. So let me explain.

Kyusho Cycle of Emotions

The breakdown of the Kyusho Cycle of Emotions is as follows:

  1. Happiness destroys Anger
  2. Anger destroys Grief
  3. Grief destroys Happiness

The cycle is also referring to extremes of emotion. Which complicates its usage.

The Kyusho Cycle of Emotions and YOU

The first issue with the application of the Kyusho Cycle of Emotions is that you, the defending need to be in control of you emotions. This is not an easy task and requires serious practice to achieve.

Kyusho Jitsu Cycle of Emotions - Control Emotions

In a demonstration it is very easy to use the Kyusho Cycle of Emotions because it is a controlled environment. So as an example you have the Uki attack you after working up some anger, then you hit him at ST-05 while laughing at him and you will have a DEEP Neurological Knockout

Pretty cool eh? But as you can imagine to laugh at someone trying to hurt you would not be easy. FEAR is the normal psychological response. The fight or flight reflex kicks in.  Now you may be able to defense yourself no problems. But changing the "emotional" state you are in is different. That is a big challenge! Plus it needs to be pure, not just an ego mask!

Therefore it is a idea good to understand the physiological happening of what are emotions to get a real understanding of how this works.

Emotional State of Attacker

Kyusho Cycle of Emotions

You also need to understand the emotional state of the attacker in order to apply the Kyusho Cycle of Emotions! The automatic assumption is that the person is angry. But that is not always the case!

It really depends on how bad your luck is! Let's take a look at different metal conditions and the associated emotions that come into play. And if we are honest with ourselves, and when we speak of self defense we must be honest because mental illness has become an epidemic problem today.

So let's break this down!

Psychopaths

Psychosis and Self Defense

The issue here is emotionally Psychopaths are not influenced by other people emotions. Therefore if one attacks you he or she will feel nothing for you. This can cause the attack to be very robotic, and unemotional. Therefore the Kyusho Cycle of Emotions is not really going to be applicable. You can make a Psychopath angry by attacking his or her ego.

But that is likely to make the situation far worse! There certainly are ways to defend yourself against a Psychopath using the science of pressure point self defense. But the Kyusho Cycle of Emotions is OUT!

Also a psychopath does not have a conscience!

Sociopaths

The sociopath is a very interesting person. They can also be hands down the most dangerous. They are capable of attacking someone, even killing them with little to no emotional association at all. However not all Sociopaths are interested in doing harm to others.

A Sociopath does have a conscience, but it is very weak. Here is a great reference on the difference between the Psychopath and the Sociopath

Depression

Kyusho Cycle of Emotions

This is one of the most common forms of mental illness today.  It has been linked to dozens of mass shootings in the USA and is also not very well understood. Depression on its own is not going to be a cause of violence. However there are other factors that come into play.

Because depression can basically cripple someone and destroy their lives they can become very resentful inside. This can lead to problems if they decide to act out their resentment on someone who they view is the cause. In this case anger does come into play!

This can also be complicated and has been complicated by the medication the person is taking.  Here is another read for you on Depression and Violence.

Kyusho Cycle of Emotions

So what does all this have to do with Kyusho Cycle of Emotions? Very easy! As powerful a principle as this is, it is NOT one you should put a lot of reliance on!  This principle needs to be used in conjunction with other principles like the Cycle of Destruction!

But today, for a limited time I am going to offer you something cool! A FREE copy of the Cycle of Emotions Video from my 15 Principles of Kyusho Jitsu Series! Click on the link below and fill out the form to get you copy!

Explaining Emotions and Activation

Psychology of Self Defense

In Conclusion

Please note I am not targeting in anyway people with any of the above conditions or others. However as martial artist and martial art teachers we need to understand what is happening in our environment. The more people understand mental illness the better! Our goal as martial arts teachers is to help.

You cannot help what you do not understand. Ignorance is a bad choice.

Question!

Do you find people to be out of balance today? Far too emotional? Do you understand how you can use this to your advantage in self defense? Comment Below!

Do Kyusho Jitsu Secrets Exist?

Kyusho Jitsu Secrets

Kyusho Jitsu Secrets

Do Kyusho Jitsu Secrets really exist? Is there "hidden" information out there that only a handful of people know about? The answer is both Yes & No!

One of the most common complaints I get from martial artists who have come from other organizations to join the Kyusho Jitsu World Alliance is I was "not really learning anything."

That is very sad, but I cannot say I am surprised!

What are the Kyusho Jitsu Secrets?

Kyusho Jitsu Secrets

There are really no secrets, only information that martial arts instructors tend to keep to themselves so that they can retain their positions above  the students. To my mind that is the wrong thing to do, the wrong way to approach things, and the major difference between an "instructor" and a "teacher."

I am a TEACHER.

Also telling students they cannot talk to, or belong to other organizations is suicide! Your students are your life blood, you need them as much as they need you! Lose the EGO guys! Yeah, this opinion does NOT made me popular. Oh well!

Here is a TRUE story for you from back almost 8 years ago.

Travel to Teach a Seminar

Master Curt Mason - Humane Pressure Point Tactics Windsor

I was headed to Bucharest Romania in fall of 2010 to teach a weekend seminar. As I was in the process of booking this I was approached by another group in Europe to come there the following weekend.

We talked about price and they agreed to fly me from Bucharest to their city, then return me to Bucharest for my flight back to Canada. Therefore this was a win/win for everyone. And the price I was giving them excellent! It meant being in Bucharest a week, but that was OK.

Now being that I was not very well known I was not going to command big money like some other instructors were getting. And I was good with that! It takes time to build a solid reputation.

So everything was setup, I agree to come from Bucharest to their city. But I made a BIG mistake. I did not take a deposit. I arrived in Bucharest on the Thursday afternoon for my Friday seminar. Once there I had a email cancelling the second seminar.

Now I am stuck in Bucharest for an extra week, and no seminar to teach. I have a school in Canada to run. This did not make me happy. The other group had decided to bring a high end instructor in at 3 times the price.

Returned to Canada

After my total of 8 days in Bucharest I returned home. A few days later I got an email from the guy who cancelled on me. I asked how his seminar went and he said AWESOME. "You should see the things that "Master XXXX" can do.!"

"Cool so what did you learn? Can you do this?" The answer was "well, no but he was amazing!" My final comment was, "so you paid 2000 euro plus expenses for a show?"

A few days later I was contacted by the group about perhaps coming the following spring and teaching some classes. I politely declined. I suggested he stay loyal to Master XXXX. [I will not print his name out of respect to him]

Do I keep Secrets?

Kyusho Jitsu Seminars

The answer as you can asked my students is NO I teach everything! Why? Because first of all my teacher GM Stewart did not keep secrets from me. And I want my students to be better then me with time!

Kyusho Article CONCLUSION

In conclusion

I teach everything! But when the student is ready to understand the information. And I do it for a very reasonable price. This will not always stay this way because the busier I get the more I need to chose who gets what and when.

My time is limited by the clock, and we all must make a living! This tells you that now is the time to get involved with our programs! Why?

Because if you really learn how to use the science of pressure point self defense in real life, then it is time to take the first steps. And I don't keep Kyusho Jitsu Secrets!

Kyusho Pressure Point Activation

Kyusho Pressure Point Activation

Kyusho Pressure Point Activation

I was searching on Google today and saw the question about Kyusho Pressure Point Activation. So I decided it is a good time to address this one!

Kyusho Pressure Point Activation- What is a Pressure Point?

First I need to start here. What is a pressure point? A pressure point is a place on the body where a nerve come to an end, where it branches off in a "Y." Also where is "X's" another nerve.  The "old timers" called them nerve strikes. And I guess you can see why!

Kyusho Pressure Point Activation

When a pressure point is activated the associated meridian to the point is also activated. This can last anywhere from a few minutes to 20 minutes. Depending on if the pressure point is hit correctly, and with enough FORCE

The harder and cleaner you hit, the better the result! Note I said NOTHING about "light touch." I really don't know where people get the idea of "light touch."  When working with a partner you don't hit them hard, because they won't be able to continue if you do!

Common sense right?

Kyusho Pressure Point Activation- Angle and Direction

Kyusho Pressure Point Activation

Every pressure point is hit or attacked at a 45 degree angle.  I cannot in a single article address "direction" for every point because they are all in many ways different. However as an example LI-10 [Large Intestine 10] is hit "through" to the other side, at a 45 degree angle, using 2 Way Action.

What is 2 Way Action?

2 Way Action, also referred to as complex motion is the reason, the discovery that make the science of pressure point self defense work! Without a solid understanding of Kyusho 2 Way Action none of this will be effective. But the great news is that this motion is natural, and once internalized becomes like breathing.

Watch this video for exact details on 2 way Action!

The sound is a little bit "buzzy" due to lighting issues in the room. But it gets the point across well!

Kyusho Article CONCLUSION

In Conclusion

In conclusion today I have covered some of the very important basic understanding of the science of pressure point self defense Kyusho Jitsu.

One of the biggest complaints I hear from those seeking to learn the science of pressure point self defense is that many of those teaching keep secrets. They rehash all the information they taught before in a new form.

Now review is important! But I have seen many times information being kept back until the student is ready (in reality paid more). We all need to make a living, and this what I do! But I believe it is more important to spread the knowledge to more people.

Teaching with Systems

In order to learn anything well there needs to be teaching systems in place. That is what the Kyusho Jitsu World Alliance is all about. Spreading the teachings of Kyusho Jitsu via systems to make sure the dedicated student REALLY learns!

It is not about me! It is about YOU the Student, and helping you to master pressure points!  Systems are what makes masters!

Principles of Kyusho Jitsu

10 Principles of Kyusho Jitsu

What are the 10 Principles of Kyusho Jitsu? Martial Arts study, as well as Kyusho Jitsu can be looked at like a science. Therefore the 10 Principles of Kyusho Jitsu become paramount in the learning process. Let's take a look at this principles and break them down.

The 5 Novice Principles of Kyusho Jitsu

The Cycle of Destruction

The first 5 of the 10 Principles of Kyusho Jitsu are considered to be beginner or novice principles. However all the knowledge is built on these first five! Let take a look at them in more details

1) Attack Along the Meridian - This principles takes a look at attacking pressure points along the same meridian on the body. This is important because it causes both energy disruption in the meridian as well as confusing nerve input to the brain.

2) Attack Using the Cycle of Destruction - This is one of the cornerstones of Kyusho Jitsu understanding and success. It helps the student to understand where to strike, and with which "tool." Here is a link to an article specifically on the Cycle of Destruction.

3) Attack Using Yin and Yang - This is a complex principle that center around the idea of striking to complete the Yin and Yang theory of attack. You can find some excellent information on this theory here!

4) Attack Using Correct Body Mechanics - This is one of my favorite principles. It is all about centering and controlling the attacker keeping him or her in your area of power.

5) Attack Using Tempo - There is an old saying that if you can dance, you can fight! This is a look at the role of tempo in self defense.

The 5 Advanced Principles of Kyusho Jitsu

Kyusho Jitsu Down Block

Next we have 5 advanced principle of Kyusho Jitsu. These all build and enhance the first 5! They are as follows.

6) Attack Using the 24 Hour Diurnal Cycle - Understanding how the energy clock in the body works, the flow of energy and how to disrupt it.

7) Stances - Understanding the role of stances in martial art and Kyusho Jitsu self defense.

8) Colour - Colour has an effect on the human body. It can control moods and health. This is a very powerful principle!

9) Sound - The effect of sound on the body. This is one of the most devastating of Kyusho Jitsu Principles

10) The Cycle of Emotions - The Triple Warmer Meridian controls the emotions of the person. This is tied to the endocrine system. This is a powerful self defense principles!

Kyusho Article CONCLUSION

In Conclusion

Even though there are Kyusho Jitsu Instructors who no longer teach these principles, while their choice, I believe is a BIG mistake.

These principles are a cornerstone of the study of the science of pressure point self defense.

Today teachers and teaching systems use "shortcuts" to get the job done. Like in my home province of Ontario Canada they no longer teach "cursive" writing to children.

Why? Safe money is my guess. However "cursive" writing helps develop the child's brain and this is PROVEN. Just like the 15 Principles Of Kyusho Jitsu assure the development of the Kyusho student. No matter what ANYONE says!

And time has proven their value! Once these are internalized you really no longer think about them.  Why? Because this is how the brain works!

Question, how much time have you spent learning these principles? I am going to offer you 2 FREE videos (one when you leave and the other below) to become proficient with Kyusho. Will you download the videos and watch them? Or are you a person of non action? Comment here!

Pressure Point Self Defense & Threat Levels

Pressure Point Self Defense

Self Defense is Under Attack

Do you know how Pressure Point Self Defense & Threat Levels integrate together? From the things I see posted, and a lot of the video I see there seems to be some confusion on this topic.

Today I see a lot of "Combat" websites, videos and posts. Many of these done by younger people, often times trying to make a name for themselves. Nothing wrong with that I suppose. However if you are experiencing the need for "combat" training and you are a citizen, not police or military, you are doing something VERY wrong!

The addition of the science of pressure point self defense into these systems would dramatically improve the success rate. But again if you are confronted by a knife on a regular basis, it is time to rethink your life.

Pressure Point Self Defense & Threat Levels

Pressure Point Self Defense & Threat Levels

You can breakdown Threat Levels for the average person fairly accurately. And in my opinion the need for real, solid self defense solutions are needed more than ever!

But first let's define self defense.

"The protection of one's person or property against some injury attempted by another." This is a legal definition and here is a link for more information for you.

Pressure Points Self Defense & Escalation Levels

For the sake of simplicity I am going to break down Threat Level into 3 parts. In my school I break it down further, but lets look at the things the average person will encounter.

1) Level One - This is the beginning stage. You have encounter a disruptive person or a situation in which a potential attacker is "interviewing" you. Under most circumstances there is always an interview. For those types of people who are into the conflict and combat types of situation this may not occur. Or occurred in the past. Then they are ambushed. That is not what happens to the average person.

This stage has distinct signs and it requires situational awareness. There are also certain skills needed to handle this stage. Good assertive verbal skills, knowledge of the area in which you are in and possible escape routes. But most of all, an understanding of how to preemptively use pressure points to discourage the attacker, subdue the attacker and possibly restrain the attacker till the police arrive.

Attacked Tonight on the Way Home

2) Level Two -. This is in reference to AFTER the attacker has taken the threat from talk to physical aggression. This includes all of the above, plus the ability to knock the attacker out, allowing for escape or intervention from authorities.

3) Level Three - This is high level threats that include weapons like knife, guns and clubs. Also multiple attackers!

Kyusho Article CONCLUSION

In Conclusion

There are many very important aspects fo successful self defense. It is not just about techniques. Escalation is a very important part of any self defense training and you need a deep understanding of how it all works.

This is one reason I created the HPPT - Humane Pressure Point Tactics Certification Course. You can learn more here. And i have an eBook called Humane Kyusho Jitsu Beginners Guide you can checkout here

Does your personal self defense training include escalation work? Please tell me about it! I would love to hear. Comment here.

HPPT Pressure Point Self Defense

HPPT Pressure Point Self Defense

Chance favors the prepared mind. Are you prepared for today's escalating street violence against innocent people? Or are you complacent? Let's talk today in depth about HPPT Pressure Point Self Defense. First I want to break up the term and clearly define it.

What is Kyusho Jitsu?

First and foremost, Kyusho Jitsu is NOT a martial art in of itself. It is the study of the pressure point system of the human body and how best to take advantage of the weaknesses of this system.

It exists in every martial art but the information is either not taught, or not taught properly. This will result in ineffective self defense techniques. Here is the link to an article with more details on Kyusho Jitsu and its definition.

Referencing Kyusho Jitsu
Large Intestine 18

What are Pressure Points?

A pressure point is a place on the body where a nerve ends, branches off in a "Y" shape or crosses over another nerve. There are 361 plus pressure points on the human body.

The actual size of a pressure point is that of the head of a pin. However the area of activation is the size of a Silver Dollar or Looney in Canada. Here is an article to Pressure Point Basics to help detail this information more for you.

What is HPPT Pressure Point Self Defense

Here is a definition that many martial artists seem to have a problem with. So now lets look at the role of HPPT Pressure Point Self Defense and a real definition.

You will see a lot of negative comments from tough guys about the effectiveness of martial arts in general in a self defense situation.

Why is this? Because for some reason these men believe that combat and a combative lifestyle are somehow linked to their manhood.

HPPT Pressure Point Self Defense

When you have been in "more fights that you can remember" you are doing something serious wrong. This is NOT self defense. You have chosen to live a self destructive combat oriented lifestyle that will ultimately lead to your death. This can also be linked to several serious mental disorders.

But they are correct, martial arts will not work for them, and perhaps rather then die by the sword, they should seek some help. Unless you are police or military you should not be doing this!

In Conclusion

Kyusho Article CONCLUSION

HPPT Pressure Point Self Defense is about protecting yourself and your family from ATTACK by someone who wishes to do you harm. It is not an engagement in a bar, but it can happen there. And it is NEVER about you bragging about your skills and getting in a fight.

Self Defense is the use of reasonable force to end a conflict, and then turn the issue over to those who are mentally and physically prepared to deal with things, LAW ENFORCEMENT.

Defend yourself with the idea of getting out of dodge. It is NOT about ULTIMATE victory! Showing your amazing skills and doing untold damage to someone, then dealing with the legal repercussions of doing so. And of course retribution. That is childish high-school thinking!  I know 3 men from my High School now gone because they were this stupid and believed they were tough guys.

So have you ever let your ego get you into a bad situation? Please leave a comment and tell us.

HPPT Pressure Point Self Defense

So what is it I am teaching when I refer to HPPT Pressure Point Self Defense? Obviously I am teaching the correct way in which to attack a pressure point on the body to get the best possible result. Therefore ending the THREAT

HPPT Pressure Point Self Defense

However at Kyusho Jitsu University we are doing more than this. We have course coming that assume no martial arts training and teach specific techniques to help deal with threats.

But also these courses will...

  1. Teach you to identify a potential threat before it escalates.
  2. Use verbal skills to defuse the situation before the first punch is thrown.
  3. Situational awareness, understanding and using the environment to help keep you safe.
  4. And a lot more!

This is what self defense is! The best self defense is never using it! As the quote goes "chance favors the prepared mind."

HPPT Pressure Point Self Defense - Humane Pressure Point Tactics

Humane Pressure Point Tactics

This leads me to our new course at Kyusho Jitsu University called Humane Pressure Point Tactics. To my mind this is one of the most important course we have ever produced.  It is for the martial artist and non martial artist who wished to develop skills to deal with the chaos of today's increasing violent word.

For the martial artist this is very important.  As this is a certification course and I encourage the graduates to go out in the real world and teach the content of these 3 courses.

I encourage those not in the martial arts to learn and develop these skills to help assure your safety in this crazy violent world!

And to show you just how awesome these 3 courses are I am going to give you an incredible gift. Fill out the form below and you can download Humane Pressure Point Tactics Level One Lesson 1 FREE!

How to Teach a Kyusho Jitsu Class

Teach a Kyusho Jitsu Class

Teach a Kyusho Jitsu Class

When it comes to teaching a Kyusho Jitsu Class live in a Dojo there are systems you really should use for optimum success. In other words a structure. Often times teachers get exciting and try to cram too much information into their Kyusho Jitsu Class. Therefore overwhelming students, and eventually losing them.

Go SLOW

Teachers often wish to impart far too much information too soon on their students. They worry that if this is not done the student will grow bored. This is the furthest thing from the truth! Take your time, and make sure the student really understands the materials

The First Lesson of a Kyusho Jitsu Class

Kyusho Jitsu Class

In the first lesson you will spend a lot of time explaining how your program works.

Then begin to feed them some of the course materials. I suggest a 2.5 hour class.

You can go shorter, but do not go longer!

I had an instructor years ago who loved to teach, and he would get very exciting about what he was doing. The class would go overtime, and then attendance began to suffer. People, students have other things on their plates. Always remember that!

You never want someone looking at their watch! You want them to be surprised how fast the time went!

Kyusho Jitsu Class Session Breakdown

Here is an example of a Kyusho Jitsu class breakdown:

  1. Go ever entire program outline
  2. Resuscitation Techniques for Head, Lung and Heart
  3. Cycle of Destruction (Ko Cycle)
  4. Meridians of the Upper Extremities
  5. Arms points H6 and LU8

If you take your time, teach slowly and work directly with each student, this will take about 3 hours.

Kyusho Jitsu Class Example

Below I am giving you a sample video from one of my Kyusho Jitsu University Gold Members Live Seminars. This is edited to remove seeing the students involved. This is essentially the replay for those who missed it.

Kyusho Article CONCLUSION

In Conclusion

There is a very important path to teaching a Kyusho Jitsu Class. And when you follow this path you will find an increase in not just learning, but also retention of the student.

It is very easy to overwhelm someone new to the science of pressure point self defense.

Are you a Kyusho Teacher? I would love to hear about your experiences teach class and the results! Feel free to comment here.

Pressure Point Self Defense Techniques

Pressure Point Self Defense Techniques

*

When it comes to Pressure Point Self Defense Techniques you can get a very solid result. That is providing you understand how things work. Often time I will see martial art teachers made big mistakes when it come to teaching self defense techniques, and adding pressure points to it.

Recently I watched part of a seminar for local law enforcement in which pressure points were badly misused. The 1st issue I had with what was being taught was the defender stepping forward into the punch. BAD IDEA. There is a time to step in and this was not the time.

Next a "neck pressure point" was grabbed, however the teacher did not know the name of the point, nor was it attacked correctly. The pressure point in question was SI-16 [small intestine 16]. This is best a strike point. Yes the technique hurt! But under adrenaline this would not have been anywhere near as painful, because it is the wrong way to attack the point.

Second and most important! The attacker has 2 hands and you are now within grabbing range, and no options to get out!

Perhaps this man could "pull this off" himself, as he has about 45 years experience, but my issue is it is begin taught as "correct." And there was nothing correct about it!

There are many things I can do, but I would not teach these of techniques as some kind of "fact" of self defense.

Small Intestine Meridian

Pressure Point Self Defense Techniques - Proper Pressure Point Usage

When adding Pressure Point Self Defense Techniques you gotta do it right! As an example let's say you are teaching a center lock. If the student knows the center lock, and you wish to add Kyusho Jitsu knowledge to it. Then it takes time to change the understanding. If they have never seen the lock before, it becomes easier obviously.

Next you need to make sure you understand the pressure points "universal effectiveness." What percentage of people does this pressure point work on?  With SI-16 it is in the very high 90% range.

Here is an example of adding pressure points to a "lock." This is a "Z" lock in this case.

There are also variations of this. But you will get the result! However, the technique itself must be fully understood and internalized. Then you can make it work. You also MUST understand the escalation level for such a technique!

Pressure Point Self Defense Techniques - Self Defense done RIGHT

There is a lot of information out in the wild on self defense. But in my view a lot of it falls short of getting the job done! And a lot of it will just get you killed! There are things you need to understand, and then ways in which you must proceed!

What you must know!

  1. You must know what the THREAT level is for the incident at hand. This cannot be an "I can handle it" moment in your life. This can get you killed!
  2. How to position yourself to cut the threat! The high percent of attacks begin with an "interview." You need to see this happening and respond to it!
  3. How to preemptively handle the situation before it becomes life and death. Making 100% sure you are safe while doing this!

How to Start!

There are stages to all this. What I am referring to above is stage 1!

The situation could turn bad, but it has not yet done so! Today this is the most common stage. This stage is so prevalent today because of the current political climate and all the special interest groups of people thinking they have been "hard done to."

They are angry and looking for someone to take it out on! So be cautious!

Pressure Point Self Defense Techniques

It used to be more commonly an interview for a robbery or some such event.

Here are the 3 Stages

  1. Confrontation not yet become violent
  2. Dealing with the confrontation that has become violent
  3. A weapon is produced during the confrontation. Or there are multiple attackers.

You need a handle of all 3 Stages!

In Conclusion - What are the Solutions?

Kyusho Article CONCLUSION

Yes there is a solution! No matter what your level of self defense training, or how good your pressure point self defense techniques are this will help you!

I have a  3 Level Certification Course available at Kyusho Jitsu University. This is called Humane Pressure Point Tactics. This is a 3 level certification course for both student and teacher. And is vital information on dealing with our current levels of street violence and confrontation.

I will leave a link to another article below for you to look at also on a new program at Kyusho Club called HPPT Self Defense Solutions. And if you have any questions please feel free to comment here!
